Agree with @tsbna44, if favorite option is FSU and based on applicant profile should be an admit and the financials are clearly within your range this one seems like it ticks all the boxes.
Statistically your kid is a match for NC State but reality it’s a wild card given the restriction on #'s of OOS students.
Just came across Auburn scholarship. They use ACT so it’s a guess but if 1370 is a 30, it’s be $11k off of about $34k for tuition. So definitely not as aggressive as the other but I suppose similar to Clemson and it’s flagship.
Of course the kids have to like the less aggressive one :). Just thought I’d pass along the merit table. It says it’s not auto merit but I suppose it’s a guide at least.
But you’d be over budget - tuition at $23k would be high 30s/40-ish all in. That’s where Auburn and Clemson stink vs the flagships which are both more generous. At $24k off, Bama would be $14k less.
It’s why I suggested MS State. It’s similar to Auburn except farther and very merit friendly.
I think you need more ‘if not FSU’ types that can get you to budget unless FAU is satisfactory.
my son applied last year with slightly lower GPA and slightly fewer ECs. Similar SATs. He was OOS to many of the schools on your list. He got into Clemson (and is now attending there), with no merit scholarship. He got into FSU, which is substantially less expensive, AND got merit scholarship. He did not get into NC State. I think Clemson is now looking at SAT scores of 1400 or higher to receive merit, and it won’t be enough to get you to 20-30K. Hope this helps -
