I’m thinking you are a shoe in for Georgia Tech and UF. As for Notre Dame and Yale, your stats certainly line up and I’d say you have a good shot at getting into both schools. However, these schools (especially Yale) are hard to determine exactly what they are looking for but I would expect to be accepted or at least deferred if you apply Early Action to both. You should apply to more Ivy Leagues if you can so that way you have a higher possibility of being accepted to at least one if you would be interested in attending others.

GA Tech and UF are both low matches and ND and Cornell are high matches. What other schools are you interested in?

Thanks for the advice so far!

thatkid86; with early action, won’t applying to both put me in a legally comprising situation? I thought early action usually equated binding admissions, not like I’d want to go anywhere else other than Yale. What other Ivies would you recommend applying to?

letjustin; I was also thinking about UMich, but the OOS price is outta this world! I guess as thatkid86 said, I should possibly think about applying to other Ivies as well.

EA is not binding, Early Decision is. Yale is SCEA, which means that you cannot apply to any other EA schools, however it isn’t binding. With non-restrictive EA, such as ND, you can apply early to as many schools as you like. (I believe there might be some situation whereby you could apply SCEA to Yale and to public unis that have rolling admission, but check Yale’s website.) I would look at other Ivies, they are really very different.

EA is not equated to ED. EA is not binding so its not like you are showing 100% commitment to their school. But you get a boost in admissions for ED, that’s the essence. That being said I won’t apply to Yale for an engineering course except I want a liberal education. Yale isn’t particularly known for Eng, Econs I dunno. In my opinion the top Ivies for Engineering are Cornell, Princeton and a little➡Columbia. To me all are high reaches except Notre Dame and UF.

Thanks for the advice so far!

Any other ratings of my status would be greatly appreciated!

Yale may be a reach, but Notre Dame seems like a good fit!

Good Luck!

Thanks bud! Any other advice will be greatly appreciated!!

If you apply ED to Cornell and EA to Notre Dame then you will maximize your chances. That what I did and I got into both as well as U mich and UVA.

^Yes, but if you applied ED to Cornell, aren’t you ethically obligated to withdraw all your other apps and are you not permitted to apply ED to one school and EA to another?

Once you were admitted to Cornell, that is.

That’s a really good question. Can anyone explain the EA/ED dilemma? I don’t understand how it’s legally possible! Also, as before, greatly appreciating any chances and advice!

GA Tech and UF: you’re in kiddo
Yale: you’re ECs are diverse and i feel like you have a good shot!! Idk much about ND

bumpchar10!

With the EA nd ED problem, (im no expert, but from what i understand) ED is binding and EA is not. So if you apply EA is 5 schools you can pick whichever school you want, assuming your accepting to all 5, but if you apply EA to 4 schools and ED to 1 school, if you get accepted to the ED school, you have to go there. However i did read somewhere that if the school you applied ED to doesnt give you sufficent aid you can reject, but lets not get technical lol.
Your stats are just amazing and definitely within the ballpark for yale (ignoring UF cause no matter what your going to get in) but with schools like Yale there admissions are just so random, 2 identical twins with the same stats could apply nd only one get accepted, its random, but your definietly in the range so when u apply dont be surprised if u get accepted, but than again dont be surprised if u get rejected … Hope i helped in some way shape or form

Thanks bud!

Early Action, which is being suggested, is not legally binding, and you can accept other schools. Early Decision is binding but nobody is suggesting it. I personally would apply EA or ED to any Ivy or high reach, because you have a higher chance.
