I’m not very familiar with BU, so I wasn’t much help…could someone please chance my friend for BU ED?
She’s Hispanic, and from a lower middle class family. Atlantic coast.

Class President

Not quite in top 10% but close (about 3.7-3.8 GPA)

Varsity Track and Field (9-12)

Quiz Team

NHS VP

Varsity Cross Country (9-12)

State-Ranked (as in top two) in a pretty obscure sport (don’t want to give too many details, but it’s not recruitable)

President of a club

SATs are pretty low…about 1300 out of 2400. SAT IIs in the low 600s/high 500s. She’s taking one AP Class this year, and has taken none in the past.

Thanks :)

From the CollegeBoard website

Test Scores

Middle 50% of First-Year Students

SAT Critical Reading: 580 - 670

SAT Math: 600 - 700

SAT Writing: 590 - 680

So, total range is 1770 - 2050

For test scores, your friend is well below the the 25th percentile. Also, with just one AP class, her course rigor is quite low, putting her GPA into perspective. Even though she is a URM, I would say that her chances of being admitted to BU are pretty low. If she applies ED directly to CGS, that might improve her chances. But remember, CGS student statistics ARE included in Boston University’s overall statistics, unlike some schools with similar programs (NYU, Emery/Oxford).

Yeah I think she’ll get into CGS with her good gpa and low test scores, if her essay was really good.
