IMO, I feel like BaghDAD was just making a point. Maybe it was a bit of a generalization, but to be honest, a lot of people DO in fact see Ohio State’s athletics and say ‘that’s where I want to go!’ However, it isn’t a knock on the university. I, in fact, am choosing to attend Ohio State this fall, and I don’t think I am a bad student by any means. I have a 33 ACT 1490 (V+M) SAT, and was #1 in my high school class. I like the way OSU handles research opportunities, and they are consistently among the ranks of the top public schools in the U.S. I don’t think that a school should be scrutinized based on how some student was admitted with a 2.2 and a 20 ACT.

To address the OP, don’t use the argument that she won’t get in because she probably will. Instead try to demonstrate to her that she needs to understand the concept of fit. Like an earlier post said, without other options, if her mind changes somewhere along the line, she may be stuck going to OSU, being unhappy, and not making the most of her education. Not to mention, some people don’t really understand what they’re getting into when they apply/enroll in these giant institutions like OSU; if she gave some smaller schools a look, she might find that she would be more comfortable in that sort of environment.
