My daughter just had her status changed online from evaluation to deferred. She will here by end of March after they
review her application again. She has a 4.07 g.p.a., 27 ACT, alot of AP and honors classes, volunteer and work experience, heavy science and math, and varsity athlete for 2 years. I wonder how many students got taken off the deferral list to the accepted list last year?

I’m sorry to hear that! I’m assuming that she’s appealing this decision? By doing that, she is showing that she cared about admission into OSU and it wasn’t just “some school” to her. Best of luck!

Can she take the ACT again? Maybe if she sends them first semester grades when they come out, they will reconsider?

See the common data set here.

Well there is hope, from the 9,000 accepted men and women only 3,000 or so enrolled last year (part C).
And of 239 who accepted a spot on waiting list, all 239 were accepted.

mommdc That’s encouraging data! She is taking the ACT again so hopefully she can submit an improved score.

Seems so odd to me that such outstanding students would be deferred, never knew deferral to be so common. 3.7 GPA, 32 ACT, AP courses, PSEO-B college courses, steady job, 4 year varsity letterman deferred 12/5 as well. Makes us nervous.

Maybe it has to do with the major?

I was deferred last night as well and am absolutely heartbroken.

I am sorry. Hopefully you will get in when they review again.

The admissions office told me that they had over 26,000 applicants from early decision alone. I’m starting to think that they deferred alot of top notch students who they will later accept. I’ve got a 30 and a 3.5 and was deferred. Ive been reading up online about deferrals and it seems that it’s much much better than the waitlist.

have they sent out rejections yet?

ive seen a couple

My son was also deferred, applied to the College of Enginnering. His total GPA isn’t the great with a 3.40 (bad freshman year) and a 29 ACT score. Hoping for good news in March. Older sister will be graduating in May from OSU
My daughter also deferred. Applied to business. Total GPA 3.53W 3.39UW, 29 ACT so similar stats. Hoping for good news in March also.
Has anyone heard on the deferrals? My son just told me today that one friend was now accepted and one has been denied. We haven’t heard anything new yet. Fingers crossed.
Were the friends deferred and then accepted/denied?
Yes, first deferred then not sure if they found out onlin or mail. I know the one who was denied found out through notice in the mail
Also, our school counselor was told the first rounds were too 10% of class with good ACT scores, then next round will be too 25%, so who knows.
My son said they both found out through the mail.
What were the stats for both of them?
