Chance of Yale Admission w/ other Ivy Likelies

I was wondering what you all thought the chance of Yale admission was after receiving likely letters from other Ivy schools? I received a likely from Dartmouth and Brown, and I am a deferred SCEA Yale candidate.

I am exactly in your position! Only dmouth and brown likelies, deferred from yale.

but here’s what I’ll say-regardless of whether HYP accepts you, you have gotten into two FANTASTIC schools-don’t let anyone convince your otherwise. trust me, you’ll be super-glad to attend dmouth or brown. the HYP aura is great, but a school like dmouth more than holds its own against the “big three”

I know. Right now I’m planning on Brown if Yale doesn’t work out, but I’ve unfortunately got my heart set on Yale as of now.

Statistically, the odds are against you if you didn’t get accepted SCEA. Yale’s EA acceptance actually went up from 14.48% last year to 15.68% this year. The RD acceptance last year was 5.65%, second only to Columbia’s 5.64%. That being said, we don’t know what Yale is looking for to complete their class so there’s always a chance. My son was wait listed at both Brown and Yale last year but was called off the wait list at Yale and eventually rejected at Brown. Like the other poster said, either way it works out you have some great choices. My son would have been happy to attend Brown if that was his only choice and if he was fortunate to be accepted to both, it would have been a difficult decision.

That’s very true. I wish they posted acceptance rates for deferred candidates, but I can’t seem to find any stats online… well, I’ll know soon enough I guess.

^On the Y Resources sticky thread there are links to SCEA Pledge threads, at the end of each are the RD results for deferred applicants. Of course this is just for those CC members who participated, but perhaps better than nothing.

Thanks! This at least helps a little haha

what are likely letters?
