Helping my son work on his final list of schools. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Schools:

UPenn (legacy)
Harvard (not sure about this but he has an influential alumni who is encouraging this so I thought I would put it on the list)
Haverford (this is a top wish/choice)
Vassar
Grinnell
Lehigh
Tulane (double legacy)
University of Florida
Holy Cross
Northeastern
Muhlenburg
Rollins

Grades: 3.8 through end of junior year. Junior grades were all A's.

Rank: not sure - school has not done this yet - class size is aprox 440

Course Load: mainly AP's & Honor's classes except for Spanish (foreign language is an extreme struggle w/ a good reason)- he takes a college prep level in Spanish. Including senior year will have the course load needed for competitive schools (4 years of lab science, 4 years of foreign langage etc...) - no real "fluff" classes taken

Areas of Intended Major: History and/or Political Science with the intention to go on to law school.

EC's:
Spanish Honor Society (elected officer for senior year)
Best Buddies (elected officer for senior year)
Junior State (elected president for senior year)
National Honor Society
Key Society
Boys State (elected mayor, passed Boy State bar & asked to apply to return as a counselor)
Hospital Volunteer
Track
Student Ambassador
Baseball (plays year round for an AAU travel team / may try to play in college & has been encourage to do so by a variety of coaches including one who has extensive major league coaching & scouting experience)
Part Time Job

Appreciate any/all input! If there are any schools not included on the list that we may be missing please feel free to comment.

Penn and Harvard are really high reaches and probably not realistic chances at either, even with the legacy at Penn. I would not consider either Lehigh or Tulane to be safeties, as the above poster suggests, but think they are matches.

If merit-based FA is not needed, I would take a serious look at adding Boston College to the list. He seems to be a good match there given his stats. Good list, overall and best of luck to your son!

The only reason we are considering an IVY is the legacy connection at Penn as they are generous with the legacy connection and Harvard since it is an alumni who is pushing this and has already been in touch with admissions as well as a few other alumni about my son. I, frankly, am not thrilled with this idea and would prefer a strong performance in college with the goal of an IVY grad program but if it happens then it would be foolish to turn it down!

Thanks for the BC suggestion. I am not a fan of this school - have about 30+ family members who are “eagles” ( and a few double eagles), spent my childhood tailgating at the BC football games, have a family member on the faculty, got into the school myself and could never stomach the idea of my child going there! Doug Flutie was the greatest thing to ever happen to this school! Sorry for the rambling response - do appreciate your help :)!
