Um... I don't have many lol, nat honor society, spanish honor society, cornell book award? yea that's it lol

I'm thinking I want to do some kind of engineering thing, but my dad says I need to major in something that I can get a doctorate in, I really don't know much about this stuff, so advice on this would be appreciated.

Should I do an interview in the schools I want to apply to? I'll probably do a yale interview since it's really close, and I think I'll apply SCEA to yale too.

Thanks a lot guys

Definitely do an interview, I’ve only heard of it helping people. Especially because you have a pretty “typical” applicant to these schools. I would recommend that you take an SAT II in a non math/science subject for balance unless you plan to apply to engineering programs. However, your ECs are not very representative of that major.

Harvard: high reach
Yale: high reach
MIT: high reach
Cornell: low reach
Johns Hopkins: low reach
Vanderbilt: match

chance me too

Harvard: high reach
Yale: high reach
MIT: high reach
Cornell: low/medium reach
Johns Hopkins: match
Vanderbilt: match

Harvard- high reach
Yale- high reach
MIT- high reach
Cornell- reach/highmatch? hopefully?
Johns Hopkins- match- it’s so competitive there i heard
Vanderbilt- lowmatch
maybe Stanford- high match

i think ur ec’s arent brilliant, mine aren’t stellar either~ but hopefully we both become lucky~~
Want to chance me? thanks!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/756277-cookie-cutter-azn-chance-ivies-hyp-others-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

oops… sorry TT yeah high reach thats wat i meant~~
Stanfords known to have a pretty weird applicant choosing system
and yes well if i cant get into a premed program then probably will just major in biology or somethingg~~

Id say you are a very strong candidate for all of those schools, unluckily for you everyone who applies to HYMS are just like you, so I woulndt count on getting in to those ( though odds are you will get into one). I would say you have pretty favorable chances at the rest, especially Vanderbilt. chance back?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/736144-chance-upcoming-senior-my-school-picks.html</a></p>

Thanks guys, but I’m also really wondering about what my dad says. He says that I should study a pure science so I can get a PhD or something like that, but from reading around a little bit from projects and stuff, I think I want to maybe major in nuclear engineering, or maybe biomedical, or chemical. So I think my college list might change. idk though

O yea and just wondering, why can’t I edit my original post? I miscounted my ap’s, it’s actually 9 not 10 as I thought

Nike T:

You may be interested in majoring in applied math. You can get a PhD in engineering but if you don’t want to do research in the field I’d advise you not to do so. Mainly find something you enjoy and if you are still interested after you graduate attend graduate school.

Harvard: high reach
Yale: high reach
MIT: high reach
Cornell: low reach
Johns Hopkins: low reach/match (your SAT score is within their range)
Vanderbilt: match
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/756915-what-my-chances-cornell-umich-penn-st-rice-madison-nyu-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

Harvard Reach(as it is for everybody)
Yale Reach
MIT Low Reach
Cornell Low Reach
Johns Hopkins low reach
Vanderbilt Match

i think if your in really good shape, but if you increase SAT score, it will be even better
