Planning to take SAT again!
Chance @UCLA/UCSD/UCI???? pliz

What is your weighted GPA? If you've taken the strongest courses you may have a chance, but you need to take SATs again for sure. Those are pretty good scores though, it's just UCLA is tough to get in as a freshman.

Yeah you're weighted GPA sounds good to me. I would consider retaking the SAT IIs as well...I know that may sound like a lot, but the Math IIC in particular is low given the dramatic curve that collegeboard gives. The other scores are also a bit low. You should remember that the subject tests are usually taken by people that are very knowledgeable in specific subjects, so you want them to show your strongest academic fields. Your scores show a general understanding, but not a mastery. It's all up to you though. For me, I just took SAT IIs and received a 740 US Hist, 740 Math IIc, and 750 Math IC. I'll be taking Math IIC again and a different subject (most likely science). I thought I had US Hist down to an 800, but evidently not. However, I won't take it again because I feel that is the best I can do. I'll try something else. You may consider that if you feel you've done the best you can. Test scores aren't everything, but they can certainly help (or hurt) your application. As far as ECs, you look nice as well. Your dedication and excellence in music since the 8th grade will be something you can market to the college.

UCSD: Match (your scores fall within range, and GPA and ECs are definitely good enough)
UCI: Safety/Match. Considering the scores are lower and admittance rate is around 60%, this one looks like a definite.

Sorry everyone... This is what happens when you click multiple times when the "Post Quick Reply" button doesn't take you to the next page even after several seconds.

Flopsy, How goes it? I have a question for ya. How easy it is to change major after you got into UCLA like changing from music major to biology or math? Thanks man

Hmmm... Music to Biology/Math should be simple, theoretically, because you're changing majors from the School of Arts & Architecture "outwards" into the College of Letters and Science. I've never seen anyone do it though, and there may be some bureaucratic/academic hurdles that I don't know about, since I'm unfamiliar with Arts & Architecture majors in general and what their academic standards are.

Thanks, flopsy. Yeah I just finished browsing through GE requirements for L&S and A&A schools. You are correct. It seems there are many overlapping GE course requirements between them. So technically, there seems to be no barrier for a student who wants to transition from A&A to L&S, even though it may take more than 4 years to graduate =)

Calling out Flopsy again: I am at crossroad.-Two paths lying in front of me

My original plan was I would use music as a "hook" with admissions and spend more time trying to improve my test scores, since going to Berkely/UCLA is what I want.

Now that I know I could transfer from music school to L&S school, should I rosin up the bow to practice?

What do u think?

Oh grand Dio - Crudella what should I do? X(

You do realize that it's much harder to get admitted to the School of Arts and Architecture as a Music major than to the College of Letters and Science as a Biology/Math major, right? I hope you're insanely talented at music performance, because music isn't really a hook when most UCLA students (especially Asian students) are already musically experienced with several years of piano/violin/guitar lessons as one of their extra-curriculars. I don't know how good you really are, so you've got to decide this one for yourself!
