Chance, please?

Hey everyone. Chance me, please. Hamilton has been my top choice for a while now. I want to apply EDII, but I dunno about financial aid.

About me: Female, senior, biracial minority [White, African American, a little bit Native American]

Stats:
SAT 1 : 1900 [660M, 610R, 630W]
ACT : 31 [32W, 31M, 31R, 28S]
UWGPA : 3.67
WGPA : 4.30

Senior Schedule : AP Stat, AP Lit, AP Psych, AP Environmental Science, French 4, Sociology, Gym

I'm in the Global Ecology Studies Program, which is unique to our high school. It's considered "rigorous".

ECs: Roots and Shoots [10 (secretary), 11, 12 (VP)]
Green Schools [10 (secretary)]
A Capella [founding member, section leader - 12]
Theatre [11, 12 - three productions (Footloose, Pillow Talk, and Beauty and the Beast)] - I'm some of my performances from Footloose and Pillow Talk for an art supplement.

Awards: "Outstanding Participant" in the National Achievement Scholarship Program

Community Service - Girl Scouts [9, 10, 11, 12] - volunteered at community-based Girl Scout camps as well
Personal Ponies [11, 12] - doing my senior project here - 200+ hours, if my papers go through

So, any thoughts, please? Also, financial aid estimates would be good. My family is basically penniless because of a currently failing start-up business.

Also, would an interview on campus be better than off-campus? I can go alone on the train or bus if I really need to, but I don't think my family can afford plane tickets now.

Ask for any other info. =]

Oh, come on. Y'know you want to chance me. >.<

I think you have a very good chance as Hamilton is always trying to diversify its student body. I would try to do a campus interview though. If not, maybe a local alumni visit? Good luck!

Excellent chance. If Hamilton is your first choice, apply EDII and you'll get significantly better financial aid. Hamilton gave me the best offer of all my choices.

Really? I thought financial aid went down with ED. I want to apply EDII so badly, but money is a huge issue.

kingkouture is a really good friend of mine, and i'm sure he could give you more info, but he applied EDII because hamilton makes such a point of giving incredible packages to the early applicants. i think they just start out with a certain amount of money to give, and it goes to ED1, EDII, and finally what is left over is distributed in the regular round.

Ooooh. Applying EDII then.
Thanks. =]

Your GPA and ACT are competitive; your SATs are sub-par.
I also note that while you are taking 4 APs this year, none are among the hardest (like Physics, Chem, BC Calc, Euro Hist, Bio). If those courses are offered at your school, Hamilton will be able to see that while you filled your dance card with APs, you avoided the really tough ones.
Your ECs are okay; no more, no less.
If you really want to go to Hamilton, I would strongly suggest that you interview, and if you can do it on campus, I would shoot for that. You need to make as compelling a presentation as possible, and that might afford you a significant opportunity to do so.
