Please chance I will be eternally greatful because then my mind will rest peacefully because i keep getting mixed opinions on where i can get into. Also i will be submitting my Art Portfolio to JHU in hopes of gettin in on RD
P.S. if i seriosly can't get into any of those (few of my friends are putting money on that) I'm applying to BGSU and partying my life away :) ..............Jk my parents would kill me if i did that

I honestly think that if you hadn't applied for BME at Hopkins, you would have gotten in. You still do have a chance, but BME is ridiculously competitive and a harder program to get into.

I think you have a fairly good chance at the others though.

thanks for the the reply!
at JHU i didn't apply for BME i applied for bio chemical engineering and regualr chemical engineering at JHU. at the other schools i applied for BME major.
Also can anyone guestimate me getting into those schools percentage wise?

hopkins doesn't consider your major when deciding whether to let you in or not. they admit you first, then determine what major you start off with.

Actually, you can be rejected from the BME major at Hopkins, but still be accepted to the University; the only drawback is that you won't be able to do BME. I believe that the admissions committee reviews the application as accept or not, and then sends all the accepted to the BME department for review for the specific program. As for Hopkins not considering your major when deciding, that is not entirely true. At any school, the admissions committee will look at the correlation between grades, extra curriculars, and the major chosen to see if the applicant is genuinely interested in studying the major chosen, and if he/she will be a good fit for the program at the University. I am not too surprised that you were deferred from Hopkins, because applying chemical engineering with a 630 SAT II for chemistry is not too appealing. But defer is definitely better than a deny, so I'm sure the admissions committee was at least semi-seriously considering your application for acceptance. For your chances, I feel that it's completely random for Hopkins, since it is a top-notch school and you were already deferred. For U of M (Michigan?), it will be hard if you didn't apply early. The spots are usually filled up by now, but you still have a great shot there. Case Western, I think you should get in. Hope that helps!

yikes! i just sent in my U of Michigan app. I knew i shoulda filled it out sooner but I hated their app essays. :(

do you think that Case and Ohio State University can be considered as safties or should i apply to University of Toledo also???

bump, can anyone answer the question above???

yo, me asian with the same act scores and GPA as you; I got in to UofM baby! You should be fine....which means OSU pretty much garuanteed too. Case is also a very low match

Definitely in to case and a very very good chance at Uof M johns hopkins is a match for you so dont worry, you should get in because of your SATIIs

chance me back at

in case anyone wants to know or has similar stats to me
i got accepted to both OSU and U of michigan even though i applied very very late (they got my application 1/29

I guess depending on ur own stats, Case could be a safety or match school. Since it’s probably the best school in ohio (acc. US News), I considered it a match.

On the “college” end (Case is under “university”), Oberlin and Kenyon are great schools too.
