Chance s'il vous pla

Hi! I’m new to CC and was hoping to get any feedback. Thanks in advance! :)
Female, White
Prospective major: Engineering/Physics
School:
9-11 Arizona (Competitive) , 12 Connecticut (Moderate) (I moved summer 2008)
Arizona Class Rank: 5/551, Connecticut Class Rank: 2/196
GPA: Arizona UW 3.97/W 4.27, Connecticut about 95ish? (They have a different grading system)

APs:
US (5)
Calculus BC (4)
School in Arizona only offered 3 APs (did IB courses instead), was an IB Diploma candidate with a concentration in math/physics until I transferred schools my senior year
Junior Year: IB Physics/IB Accelerated Calculus/IB English/IB 20th Century History/French IIV/Concert Choir
Senior Year: AP Physics/AP Biology/AP English/Civics (required)/Calculus (highest math offered, moved too late to register at a college)/Psychology/French IV

SAT: CR 710 M 800 W 730 (1510/2240, single-sitting)
SAT II: Math Level II 800 Literature 670, taking Biology and US History in January (expect 700+ for both)

Varsity Dance Team (10, 11, lettered 2x)
Dance Training (12 years, ballet/contemporary/jazz/hip-hop, member of a studio dance company)
Varsity Soccer (9, 12, lettered, captain)
Volunteer Dance/Soccer Coach
High School Concert Choir (11)
2 Engineering Internships (at small companies)
National Honor Society (11, 12, organized fundraisers)

Essays: I’m not really sure about the quality of them because I’m biased...I got great feedback, so hopefully people were honest, but I can say that they are very different from each other

Recommendations:
Teacher 1: French teacher for 3 years, very good
Teacher 2: IB English teacher, did not see recommendation, but I think that it will be strong
Counselor: I only knew her for about 2 weeks (because I moved my senior year), but it talked a lot about how well I adapted given the situation, so maybe that will help?
I’m hoping the fact that I moved my senior year and was able to adapt will help me slightly…any comments are greatly appreciated!

Almost forgot awards! Lol they're not that fabulous anyway, but here they are:
Honor Roll (9, 10, 11, 12)
Small Writing Awards
Scholar Athlete Award (9, 10, 11, 12)
Academic All-American Nominee
...and a few others, nothing incredibly substantial :/

First of all, you will be competitive. In addition, being a prospective engineering major will help given the resources Yale is pumping into engineering and the natural sciences. However, I do not see anything else that really stands out or sets you apart from the crowd. You have a much better than average chance, but it will still be difficult to be accepted.

Anyone else? :)

You sound like me (white female for engineering!)...good for your area but somewhat average compared to the rest of yale's applicant pool. But don't despair! you do have justification for applying :)

I figured I'm about average (maybe less due to lack of awards/a mountain of extracurriculars), Yale is DEFINITELY a major reach for me, hopefully essays/recommendations will help? Lol anyways, I was wondering if you guys think that the fact that I had to make a dramatic adjustment my senior year (i.e. moving) will be of any help to me whatsoever. I realize that it has nowhere near the significance of a hook such as being a legacy/donor/URM, but I was curious as to whether or not it might give me a little boost (wishful thinking, lol).

any female for engineering with avg stats is in, they want women in engineering, quotas

Hi OP,
I wonder if admissions will perceive you more as an Arizonan, and if that would help you. Depending on how long you lived in AZ, maybe your growing up experiences there will help you add some diversity to the class. Trying to shed a tiny ray of hope, from a mom who is also an engineer/physics type.

@ riverrunner: I certainly hope that would help, goodness knows that I'm going to need all of the help I can get :P...thanks for the input
@ afitscher: I wish that were true! However I feel that Yale merely asks for your intended major just to know, because I'm sure that they realize a substantial amount of people choose to pursue entirely different majors once they matriculate. Hopefully being a science-y woman will still help though.
