How can I improve by senior year?

Why would you apply to every single Ivy League school? They are very different. Apply to schools because they are a good fit for you, not because of rankings. For example, Columbia is in a city, Dartmouth is in the middle of nowhere in New Hampshire. Columbia has a core curriculum, Brown has an open curriculum, etc. etc. Research each college and see which are better suited for you. Applying to all of them is a waste of time, energy, and money. Other than that, you seem to be in a good spot. How do you get a 1527 on the SAT though? Wouldn’t that have to be either a 1520 or a 1530?

I’m a junior. That’s my goal score. I’m wondering what ivies I have the best shot at.

They are all very selective. Take the SAT, get an actual score, figure out what colleges are better suited for you and create a list based on that, then come back to this website in a few months if you want to know your chances; however, I think that you probably shouldn’t. Chance me threads are kind of useless. No one can tell you your chances for sure! There’s no “special formula” for admission, especially with schools that are so selective. Just try your hardest to craft an honest and thorough application. Keep doing what you’re doing. Good luck.

Not counting the UC’s, you have a 90%+ chance of being rejected by all of them. Start there.

Why? Simple: all of them accept less than 10% of their applicants.

Irl, by June you will have done pretty much everything you can, except essays, recs and whatever you do over this summer.

Figure out why your teachers won’t give you a 10/10 rec: tippy top schools are looking for tippy top students and somebody who’s best teacher rates them a 7/10 is not going to dazzle.

Spend some time over the summer figuring out what you want from college, and pick out the ones that actually fit. That they are famous, that you fancy telling people that you go to FamousU, that you think think that going to FU will help you become a senator- all those things are about daydreams, not the actual 4 years you will spend working there.

But mostly, put a serious effort into figuring out a couple of strong safeties, and really solid matches. Because every year we see posts like this one: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/2067333-i-got-rejected-from-all-my-colleges-except-my-safety-schools-and-i-feel-like-a-complete-failure.html#latest

For UC’s you should have a pretty good idea of what’s realistic.

If you can decide on a career now it will simplify your college selection process as you’ll only need to focus on the schools that do an excellent job of training people for your selected profession. If not, you’ll have even more variables to deal with.

Next, you’ll really need to research every inch of the schools to which you are applying and then visit each campus before signing any Letter of Intent. UC Berkeley, for instance, is a very polarizing campus; you’ll either love it or hate it. I find it cold and weird, I’d never be happy living there but many would disagree with me. Either way, you’ll be investing 4-5 years of your life in one spot–a spot you HAVE to like.

Good luck.

You are a competitive applicant. Your stats and ECs are good. With great essays you could get accepted to any of these schools

dont waste our time posting stuff like this - achieve those scores then ask a question
