P.S. Merry XMAS and I chance back!
P.P.S. This is my first post on CC! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

+1 for username and awesomely organized resume  haha

I don’t see any holes in your app…normally you can spot a few places where the applicant needs to improve, but I don’t see that so much in your app. Grades, check. Rigor, check. Standardized test scores, check (well should be…2270 is still a great score even if you can’t get it +2300)

This is one thing that I would NOT include if I were you

I “tutor” my friends too…everyone does and it looks like resume padding IMO unless you’ve been a paid tutor or are working with an official organization (our school has the “Tutoring Group” with offices etc.) but, again, that’s just my opinion.

I’m not going to go through all the schools you’ve listed because you have about an equal chance of admittance in to all of them (minus university of hawaii and the UCs…both of which you should receive admittance if everything goes as planned)…at all the rest I would say that you have a great chance :). Good luck from a fellow junior and if you could chance me back that would be great
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1020273-ivy-dreams-one-year-sooner-than-planned.html</a>
(I have decided that I will continued to move onto Senior year as planned, so more chancing than answering that question if you don’t mind…thank you!)

Oh one last tip, focus on that chess…or something else important to you…it helps to have that focus for essay purposes, for achievement purposes, and for self-improvement purposes.

And Merry Christmas to you too :D

Thanks for the chance and tips!
Ahh i misread
quote

[/quote]

and consequently focused on the skipping issue. Whoops … this is probably why I bombed my reading sat :T

Ooh, everything looks good! Nice scores, good EC’s. I wouldn’t consider the hooks you’ve listed as real hooks. Good courseload. Those schools are all mostly reaches or low-reaches.

Chance back?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1056729-condensed-concise-profile-chance-me-please.html</a></p>

HAHAHA UH!??

Of course you’re in there. . . Like you don’t even have to ask. . .

Why exactly are you applying to Harvard and Yale for engi?

Harvard has one of the world’s best theoretical math course series for undergrads

And as far as Yale is concerned, I’m not sure why. I put it on this list because HYPS goes together, but I might not apply to Yale come senior year

Everything looks solid except the ECs. Most of them you only started junior year. It lacks commitment, drive, and leadership. You’ll have a tough time getting into these schools lacking those merits.
Good luck nonetheless.

Hmm that’s somewhat true … i basically squandered my freshman year
Do you have any recommendations on how to strengthen my EC’s?

MIT:
Stanford: Reach
Caltech: Reach
UC Berkeley: High Match
UCLA: Match
Columbia SEAS: Low Reach
Harvard: Reach
Princeton: Reach
UPenn SEAS: Reach/Low Reach
Yale: Reach
Carnegie Mellon: High Match
University of Hawaii: In

I think you have a great objective application, however many of the schools on your list except Berkeley and LA have a more holistic approach which may be a disadvantage for you considering you’re an Asian Male who is good at logical thinking (I don’t give a f- what your username says LOL jkjk) from an over-represented state. Nevertheless, the subjective part of your resume is also very impressive. Overall, I think if you maintain your grades and achievements for junior and senior year, you’ll get into at least one of the Ivies and at least 2-4 schools on that list. My only suggestion would be to do something “different” from what the norm would be and maybe write a unique essay that would set you apart from all the other Asians getting 2400s and 4.0s.

Best of luck!

Many thanks for taking the time to provide a breakdown of the schools as well as the comments :)

Must see… http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1057817-chance-potentate.html#post1066135834</a></p>

Do more FBLA and you might have a shot. Also, the school you go to actually fell out of the Top 100 last year.

Anyways, good luck at the University of Hawaii in 2012 XDD

MIT: Mid-High Reach
Stanford: Mid Reach
Caltech: Mid Reach

Good luck in your junior/senior year.

Chance me back please.
