Chance to Get Into UF as in state.... weird circumstances

Ok so I’m looking into transferring to UF’s nursing school either Spring 2018 or Fall 2018. I was born/lived in Flordia for the first 6 years of my life. Then moved to Missouri where we lived for 15 yrs up until last august when we moved to southern Louisiana. My grandmother lives 40 miles north of Gainsville and I’d like to live with her and go to school. Would like to permanently live in Florida even after school. HOW CAN I GET IN STATE TUITION? i have Florida on my birth certificate and residence in state… Would I just need a Florida license?

Being born in Florida would not impact whether or not you are a Florida resident. Your grandmother would have to prove how you are dependent on here which is fairly difficult

In order to get in-state tuition, you would like need to take a gap year (12 month minimum), move in with your grandmother, and then apply to UF or another public school.

Did your parents buy a Florida prepaid tuition plan? Some of those (older ones) grant instate tuition. Otherwise you’ll need to follow the rule on the UF webpage about establishing residency.

It is not easy to do and just living with your grandmother with a DL is not going to be enough.
