I would like to say my essay is pretty strong, but I’m not exactly sure. I basically discussed that because of my circumstance as a high school student, I was convinced that I would get into the UC, only be rejected. That moment I realized that admission is something to be earned. And that I set my goals beyond college; getting into UC school is a goal on its own but the ultimate goal comes after I graduated from it.

One last thing. I heard that UC in recent years has been facing lots of criticism by its constituents for accepting more foreign students and out-of-State students than Californian students. And, the likely result of this is that this year, UC will accept more in-State students. Is there any basis for this claim? Or is this my wishful thinking?:frowning:

Anyway, if you can give me a insight, that will be fantastic.

@alliot You didn’t mention which UC campuses you applied to which would be helpful because some are harder to get into than others. You also didn’t specify if you have received a TAG. If you do have a TAG, you are guaranteed admission as long as you keep your contract.

Sorry. I applied to UCSD, LA and Berkeley.

Engineering majors in UCLA is extremely competitive, 75% of admitted students had 4.0 GPA. Physics and Math are the really important subjects that prepare you for engineering, but you got 2 Bs for Math, a B and a C for the first two levels of physics, so I do think your major GPA is not above 3.5. In my opinion, with the major you indicated, it is very unlikely you will get admitted to UCLA or UCB. But who knows, you already applied, so just wait for the decision, there is no reason to ask for opinions at this point.
