Do I have a shot???

Dear eddiepoo : Your 540/800 two-way SAT split is certainly a huge split with the 540 well entrenched in the bottom quartile and perhaps below the bottom of the acceptable critical reading scores at Boston College. While not submitted, your 25 on the ACT raises all kinds of flags since we would assume that you scored near a 36 on the math section implying that your other areas averaged in the 22 range. We will not go through the exercise of explaining the ACT-to-SAT conversion process for those scores since you are not submitted them.

You have 141 students in your graduating class and report that 5 have already been accepted during the EA round. This is a major flag in that one has to ask how many more from one school would Boston College accept. Another student or two would place the acceptance rate at 5% from your single school which would be highly unusual as BC typically will not extend that many offers to one class.

Your extra curriculars look dense but on further examination they are not really strongly connected to your High School or spirit. We do not see any leadership on a sustained level in your profile, another issue with a CSOM application.

To be honest, I would need to see your essays in order to make a deeper assessment on this profile. You are probably in the 40 (yes)/60 (no) range based on my gut feeling as to what we are seeing here.

I thought BC does super score. I thought my scores would be viewed
as 600/800 not 540/800. That is why I didn’t really try hard on the math
section in the second test.

And I got 31 on ACT math section I was severely sick
but I didn’t want to miss it b/c it wasw my first official test.
BC traditionally has bee accepting 5-8 students from our school
so I agree that it might be a little harder for me.
