Who's planning on attending the reception at the Chancellor's "house"? They have three different days depending on your unit.

i guess i'll go, why wouldn't you?

I was planning on going :) I was just wondering who eles was going.

I'll be there. Unless i forget or something really great comes up. But it won't tear No, the chancellor seems like a great guy. Funny, interesting, physics man . . . so dreamy. Is he Canadian, or did he just teach and live there?

he was the president of the university of toronto

its free food so you best believe ima be there

So, if the invitation says 'business casual' what should we wear?

<3,

Izzie Bear

No flip-flops, jeans or hoochie clothes. You don't have to wear a dress, but definitely don't dress like you're from Santa Cruz!

Is it a day or evening event?

4pm to 6pm... I'm guessing evening..

no jeans? aww man that just kills it for me

For Yale SOM, the guideline is defined more by what is not acceptable - no shorts, jeans or athletic attire such as tank tops, jogging suits, tee shirts or ball caps.

I guess its time to hit the mens warehouse

"Don't dress like you're from Santa Cruz"

Uhm...wow, I don't know if I'm just tired/cranky from waking up from an evening nap, but that kinda ticked me off.

I'm in no way the typical hippie child from Santa Cruz. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, but where I live has very little to do with my fashion sense...

<3,

Izzie Bear

haha, don't be insulted. i didn't mean it that way. when i went to a professional association conference back east many years ago, i was told not to dress like i am from California.

people outside of California have an image of us all being pinko, liberal, commie, surfers who don't know how to dress.

"I guess its time to hit the mens warehouse"

Don't go out and buy something that you will never wear again. Just be conscious that you will be at a reception with the UC Chancellor, and dress appropriately.

It's all part of growing up...and about your new life as a college student!

haha, yeah i know. i was just over reacting like the sleepy brat i am.

i like 'california comfortable'. i'm all about my flip flops, but then again, i have an immense shoe collection. ill just throw on some low heels and call it a night.

see some of you there....i'll probably be going on whatever night clark kerr was invited...tuesday maybe?

This event is a daytime outdoor party at the home of the Chancellor. We recommend the following.
For men: Khaki pants or trousers with a collared shirt. No jeans, sweats, or cut offs.
For women: Khaki pants, trousers, or capris. Sundresses or skirts. No jeans, sweats, or cut offs.

The grass-covered garden at University House is not level, so please wear appropriate shoes.

Thanks gspsiliconvalley for the various links.

Hmm.. I was just wondering.. am I the only person who feels a collared shirt looks dumb without a tie? Anyways, you can find me at the reception (with a tie, of course!).

TTG

Depends on the shirt, pants, wearer, and how you wear it. It's all about acting.

wahhhh i wont be there. i only arrive in berkeley on the 23rd. ahhhh well.
