Not sure if this has been posted already but whos going to the reception at Berkeley tommorow?

i'm thinking of going to LAX one

major: You can't think anymore. The RSVP is passed the deadline. If you haven't signed up by now, you're SOL.

oh really???? lol i didn't know cuz i just got an email this morning oh well :)

I think they are two different receptions with different deadlines.

you should be fine even if you didn't RSVP, at least at the one in Berkeley.

Its so crowded that they don't even check on that. Only if you want to enter the drawing for items in the student store. We were only supposed to have 3 people total in our group and I brought several of my friends last year so there was like 6 of us.

I'm not sure about the one in LA though, they might be more strict. I doubt it though, the purpose of the reception is to convince you to sign the SIR w/ Cal so I doubt they are going to have an issue w/ you coming even if you didn't RSVP.

Does anybody know why there are two different receptions? The Chancellor's Welcome Reception and the Interim Vice Chancellor's Harry Le Grande Welcome Reception? My friend has both in his myCalendar while I only have the chancellor's reception. The chancellor's reception is from 1pm~3pm while the vice chancellor's is from 11am to 12:30pm.

RSVP? Where is the invitation for this? I can't find it anywhere on the website.

Is it a waste of time to attend the reception if we've already submitted the SIR?

I'll be going to the reception.

It should be under the "My Events" tab under the application site.

i thought u all should have gotten a call or atleast a voice mail informing u guys?
i got the call ONE DAY before the dateline... wow just wow

but seriously the LAX one... 6.30pm at LAX is traffic hell...
nope not going to that 1

thatgirl..... it depends on what interests you and if you are planning on utilizing the programs they have. Most of the information can be found online. They basically have the Chancellor welcome everyone and explain the benefits of Cal and historial information, then there are a few student speakers that transferred in and their experiences. Usually people who really had a tough road and accomplished a lot even w/ obstacles, then there are several tables with different departments w/ literature for programs offered on campus. The housing table is the most popular.

I liked it, but some people found it a waste of time. I'm going this year because I'm proud of my husband's hard work and want to show my support. Its really up to you, but as hard as you all worked to get in, its kind of a sense of school pride to go.

^^ I completely agree, it's a part of the whole experience, and I for one am definitely not gonna miss it.

this sucks.

I go to UCSB but my home is in Half Moon Bay (45 min. from Berkeley), so my only real option would be to go to the one at LAX (which probably won't be as good).

Does anyone know where I can get more info on the LAX one????? I might still want to go but can't find any info on it. I even e-mailed Cal asking them!! (they didn't respond).

lol, I don't think I was invited to the reception then.

It sounds a lot better than the SDSU welcome reception I attended - THAT was a waste of time! Basically just two admin speakers, a movie (more like a big ad campaign), and two student reps (no transfer reps) talking at us on why we should pick SDSU (no mention of the great drugs one can get at the frats... ;)

Anyway, I will be at the Cal reception tomorrow. Go Bears!

remmert...this is totally off subject...but I love Half Moon Bay...I go surfing out there all the time (Jeff Clark shaped my board). I want to move there after graduation...do you like it there?

oh yeah, half-moon bay is gorgeee-us, i definitely agree.

but nuveen, I didn't get the invite to either one of the events as well, but it makes sense that they wouldn't invite me because I'm several states away from cali. are you outside of the vicinity too?

joehanus,
everyone should have got the invite, including out of state residents. Are you sure its not under your events tab or your checklist tab?

I started this thread and ended up not going :(
