Hey guys! I just got an invite to interview. Did anyone else on here? I'm not sure what to expect...

Congrats!!

Do you mean that Pitt contacted you to schedule your interview for Chancellors?

Hoping son will make it to this step also. Was it by phone, email, or snail mail?

Good Luck

My S did too, Uni! By email, vry.

i got the interview invitation too! very excited! does anyone know how many people out of the semifinalists were offered this and how many will actually get the scholarship?

jj…according to their website, they expected 250-300 applicants of which 50-60 would be finalists. Last year, they had 5 Chancellors Scholars, but those are how many accepted, not necessarily how many were offered. Congrats and Good Luck!

hmmmm. okay thanks. im sure that many of those who were offered the chancellors would have amazing offers to multiple schools and might choose those other schools. so the actual number of people awarded the chancellors might be a lot higher than the five who actually commit to go to pitt. so i wonder what that number is. like half of the 60 interviewed candidates maybe? and if they dont get offered the chancellors then i wonder if they still got full tuition or something big.

Yes, it was by email. It was a nice surprise that they will cover up to $500 of expenses, I didn’t know that. I’m also wondering how many were invited to interview, I recall reading 50 but can’t seem to find that now.

jj…don’t know of any additional monies being offered…S has already been awarded full tuition.

Do they only send it out an email at once? Or in waves if anyone knows

I don’t know but if I had applied and not heard I would call and ask. It can’t hurt. :)

jj, I haven’t heard of Chancellor’s applicants who apply but don’t get the Chancellor’s getting bumped up in merit. A lot of the applicants already have full tuition anyway, which is the biggest non-Chancellor’s award (there are some weird specific full rides for minorities too I believe however).

Best wishes in your interviews.

Definitely not anything that high. I’ve heard it ranges from about 10-14, depending on the kind of endowment UHC has from year-to-year. The most CS we have ever had was 2-3 years ago at 14, the least being last year with 5. I imagine they don’t award much more than that (IIRC my freshman year they awarded 10 and all 10 matriculated to Pitt) because they just don’t have that kind of money to give out.

Unicameral and Mommydearest13, when did you submit the Chancellor’s app? Since the app deadlines weren’t all the same, I was wondering if maybe this is just the first wave?

I’m pretty sure that Unicameral got one of the earliest invites…my S got his 2-3 weeks later. I rember it being due right around the same time as all the EA deadlines!

@MommyDearest13 and Unicameral
On the application, under “Status” what does it say?
Does it say “In Process” or something else?

Yes my status says “In Process.”

I think I got one of the earliest scholarship notices, that was in like early November maybe because I think I had the Chancellor’s app turned in by around December 1ish.

Hey guys, first off congratulations to those who got an interview! I was wondering if anyone had heard an express denial yet? I haven’t heard anything at all, and was wondering if this was maybe just a first round of acceptances.

Congratulations to those who have been notified about the Chancellor’s Scholarship Interview! Can those who have been invited share the proposed interview dates and times? What other details were in the interview notification? Thanks.

You have to contact them to schedule…they offer interviews most Mondays and Fridays through April 12. Th interview is discussion format with 2-3 UHC staff…lasts about an hour. Someone will call to arrange tours, deptment meetings, etc. They will reimburse travel expenses up to $500.

Would people with chancellors invites please post their sats to help future applicants (like me). Thanks!!
