It is definitely worth it to compete for Chancellor’s. At least if Pitt is a top choice.
I posted this question in another thread but I think this one is getting more traffic so I’m reposting:
Is it too late for me to receive any scholarships? I got letters today offering me a spot in the honors program and the guaranteed masters program, but I haven’t heard anything about scholarship money. Would I have received notice in my original acceptance letter??
If it helps, I am out of state and have been accepted into the Swanson School of Engineering.
@shooting4stars They have just started sending notices regarding scholarships. I think they continue to send them out until February 1st. Someone might correct me on that date.

@shooting4stars, Nope! It is not too late at all. Scholarship notifications are sent out weekly between November and March 1. Notice comes separately from admissions letters.

Hello, my son was accepted into Swanson a few weeks ago. When an application is being reviewed for acceptance is it also automatically reviewed for merit money as well? Just want to be sure that we submitted everything that we needed to at the time. Thank you!
@ahill70, Yes, we automatically review applicants for scholarships as long as we get the application, transcript or self-reported academic record, short answer question responses, application fee, and test scores by December 15. The Scholarship Committee and Admissions Committee reviews are separate. All admitted students who are selected for Pitt Scholarships hear about scholarships after admission. Scholarship letters go out weekly from Nov-March 1.
