So I’ve applied already to SLO, just wondering a bit what my chances are looking like.

Besides the info in the title:
CSU GPA: 3.50
SAT: 1530 (M+CR)
New York (OOS)
Full 750 rigor points for MCA
21+ Hrs of major related work (150)
6-10 Hrs ECs + Leadership (120)
Computer Engineering is 1st choice major, Software is 2nd.

Your SAT score is competitive but your CSU GPA is low with average for Engineering at 4.13. SLO looks like a slight Reach.

Yes, but for Engineering you want to be around 4800 for a really solid chance.

Alrighty. Although I’ve already submitted my app, would it make sense to switch my first choice major to software engineering, since it’s a little bit less selective, not all that much different, and I wouldn’t mind much at all if I couldn’t switch back if accepted?

Software engineering has a higher acceptance rate than Computer Engineering, so if you are fine with the switch, then go for it.
