Chances (Although I will regret this in a couple hours)

Your chances are good, but not great. Your GPA is the weak spot, and I highly doubt that you've gone to "an extremely competitive school", taken the hardest courseload, and have only managed to get 2 AP scores under your belt. Tons of kids who've gone to hard schools with tough curriculums will have 2 AP's by the end of sophomore year and 6-8 by the end of junior year, so comparatively, your courseload is relatively weak. Your EC + SAt is good enough, but U of C doesn't really care about these that much. Just make sure your essays + recs are good. Your research + alumni connections might help, although I'm not sure what U of C's legacy policy is.

thanks CNI!

hmm, well I still stand by my statement that my school is competitive, and comparison to my classmates, I have taken a very rigorous course load (never said I had taken the hardest, but close to it). It's good to hear differing views, because I had never thought of my GPA as weak (but UChicago applicants are obviously the creme of the crop!).

holding out hope till december!

sigh.. deferred

I guess this can attest to the value of chance threads...

However, I am determined to make it RD, whether that means responding to a new prompt, sending in a supplemental recommendation, and definitely demonstrating WHY UChicago is for me.

A more determined and motivated person than ever,
