okay, so i've been really worried lately because i just finished my junior year and my grades are awful...i didn't plan them to be so, but my bad finals kind of ruined my grades.
I love NYC and going to college there would be like a dream! I'm sorry if everyone posts these chances, but I did not anticipate a C in precal (i had a B all year), so I've been worried. Thank you!

It also depends on what school/major you plan on applying to. Obviously it's easier to be accepted into some programs than others. I think you'll be fine if you do well senior year and boost up your ec's. Also, your essays will be very very important.

There are other alternatives for city schools too. You can also apply to Fordham or CUNY honors.

Oh and i forgot some EC's!! (not that it makes a big deal, but felt like putting them down incase it does?? haha) so yah.. I am also a member of French Honor Society, and National Honor Society.

Two people from my school will be attending CAS w/scholarship $ and both had SATs in the 2000-2100 range. A 2030 is right in the ballpark for NYU, so just work on improving other parts of your resume.

I worry about applying early because it's "set in stone" and the financial situation is very important to me. I would apply early, but i would hate to be made to go if I was paying too much and could save my money elsewhere.

I thought I heard this before (although, I could be mistaken). Is it true that if one is accepted early decision, but can not afford to go because of the amount of financial aid given, that they can decline the invitation?

The 2 people who are going to CAS from my school didn't apply early. Don't apply early unless you're sure you want to go to NYU and know that you can afford it.

is it true, though, that one can decline an ED acceptance if there is not sufficient financial aid? Or should one strictly apply ED if they have a solid idea of their financial situation? (sorry if I'm repetitive)

you can reject it because of the aid. NYU gives more aid to ED students due to the way they award packages, so if you can't afford is ED, you'd be getting less RD. No biggie if you have to reject it because of financial reasons after getting ED.

if you break the ED contract, and they decided to prosecute (only do about half the time), you'd probably only spend a few days in jail anyways.

do schools have different acceptance rates (and is there a link that shows them?) for instance, I know that Stern is more difficult to get into than CAS. But how does CAS differ from the College of Nursing? Thanks
