NYU? Do I have a chance of getting in, and what else do i need to do to get there?

THIS HASN'T BEEN EDITED AND THIS WAS TYPED ON MY PHONE, so apologies for typos/grammar mistakes.

Also this is suuuuper long, but I'm begging you to read it all and help me. pleaaase.

Ok so New York University is my dream school, and I can't find the right words to emphasize how much I need to go there – but I'm not sure if I have a good enough chance. I've been following and asking so many current NYU students on so many social media websites, and after giving tidbits of information about myself at a time, they usually say i have a good chance, but i just wanna now put everything all into one post and see if i have a strong chance overall and what i need to do to improve.

THIS WILL TAKE AWHILE KINDA PLEASE BEAR WITH ME IM DESPERATE.

I am a high school junior. When I was a freshman, I gave up on school, so my grades are the following: ((1st Sem/2nd Sem))
English 1 - B+/A
Honors Algebra 2 - C/C-
Hon. Biology - C/C
PE - C/B ((this was a bad year for me as you can see))
World History - B+/A
Latin 1 - A/B

my sophomore year was better since i moved to a new school. also, if you can see, they are not as selective in their honors/AP classes

Hon. Chem - A/A
Dance - B/A ((this counted as an academic class so my gpa has been slightly ruined))
AP Euro - A/A
French 1 - A/A+ ((my new school didn't have latin unfortunately))
Hon. English 2 - A+/A
Hon. Pre-Calc - A/A

now junior year first semester is where it all goes down again.

AP Calc AB - A
AP Bio - D ((as you can see this has never been a strong subject for me))
AP Eng Lang - B+ ((still trying to convince my teacher to raise it up))
French 2 - A
AP US History - A

the thing that makes it worse is that i dropped bio this semester so i am worrying because i have a strong feeling that it will look bad and affect my admission. BUT i am in theatre 1 now, and i am planning on applying undeclared BUT with a strong interest in eventually majoring in cinema studies. so maybe theater instead of ap bio will look good?? or okay??

my expected grades for the end of this year are:
JROTC - A ((will this class look good on my app??))
AP Calc AB - A
French 2 - A
AP Eng. Lang - A+
Theatre 1 - A
AP US History - A+

i haven't yet calculated my GPA's with my expected second semester grades, but here are my unweighted gpa's as of now. ((unweighted bc i read somewhere that nyu doesnt look at the weighted scale))
Acad. GPA ((no PE)) - 3.4182
Total GPA - 3.3559
10th-12th grade GPA - 3.7059
i'm positive my gpa will get better after this semester. i am currently 55/474 in class rank but i am hoping to get within 50 by senior year.

i have not taken the sat and i am planning on taking it next month in june, but i've taken the psat and multiple mock tests at many different sat prep centers, and all in all my scores average to about 1950. i really am hoping to raise it to at least 2200.

i have only taken one ap test so far and it was for european history and i received a 3.

OK, now onwards to extracurricular.
in sophomore year, i became secretary of Interact Rotary Club and treasurer of Friends of Rachel Club. I was also an active member of CSF, California Scholarship Federation. In junior year, i was treasurer of both interact and Friends of Rachel, and an active member of CSF and Act Now Club. For all clubs, the majority of the things we do are community service or club fundraisers. We haven't done anything major yet. I've done countless community service hours with the clubs though, especially Interact and CSF.

Ok, now this will be the part where i give flimsy responses in hopes that some of the things i list will count for something, though it most likely won't. I have not been involved in any sports. I ice-skated and also golfed from 4th-8th grade, but no competitions or anything, just for pure interest. I was starting to learn archery last summer, but I broke my right and dominant hand. ((I will get back to that later.)) Though, I am now healed, so I am trying to learn with my left.
I do not play any musical instruments. Except the ukulele. But considering I've only played for a month after teaching myself, I doubt that that would matter.

My hobbies are actually kind of nonexistent. I can't actually put blogging or watching tv on my app. But, i'll try to list some things and see if they count. My blogging has been put to use by my mother, who is a dentist and employed me as her head of social media. i even created a website for her. only problem is, she out me off her payroll and instead paid me with a disneyland annual pass. so i'm not sure how i would be able to put this in my app.
Second thing, I asked someone on an NYU blog about this, and they said it would be interesting to put, but I'm not sure. Basically this 2014 year I made a resolution with myself, and I've been surprisingly able to keep it, but basically I promised myself to watch at least one movie a day. I am not sure if I would want to out it on my app, but considering what I said earlier and how I want to pursue cinema studies as my major, I figured this would be something interesting to note.

Ok, so back to my broken hand. I broke my hand last june 2013, which couldnt have come at a worse time. not only did i have to discontinue my archery lessons, ((btw i'm not sure if i stated it, but i now have metal implants in my hand, which is why i have only continued archery almost a year later)), but i also had to go to harvard with a broken hand. from june-august 2013, i attended harvard summer school. with a broken hand. because of my broken hand, I had to change my courses ((from law and psychology to intro to psychology, and from an acting workshop about developing a character to improv)). Also because of my broken hand and my inability to complete in-class assignments, I received a D in intro to psych, and because I had to miss one session due to a hospital visit for my hand, I received a B in improv. I want to write about why I received my D in psych because I know that it would seem interesting, but I also am worried that whoever is reading will feel annoyed that I'm trying to find excuses for getting such a horrid grade. Also, I don't think I'm supposed to get credit with a D, but Harvard said that I would, but I haven't received an official transcript in paper yet, so I'll see about that.

Ok so the topics I'm planning to write about when i apply include my broken hand, harvard experiences, and movie a day thing. i have no idea what else to write about.

this is all i can think for now. thank you for reading this whole thing if you did. please please pleeeeease tell me if i have a chance of getting into nyu and how i can improve myself and also what can i write about?? and anything else i might need to know. i am very passionate about nyu and i would do anything to get in do pleaseee help me.

thank you!!

oh yeah a few more things.
i think im also going to write about how i loved the nyu campus since i visited several times while i was im the east coast last summer.
and also i know nyu doesn't really look at this, but i'm first in my family to go to college in america.
AND ONE MORE THING i want to apply to NYU gallatin!!
ok thank you!! please help me!!

not very familiar with NYU but it seems like a bit of a reach.

I think you will get your most accurate responses when you have firm standardized test scores to go off of. A 1950 is a TAD low for NYU’s 25-75% range. I would work on bringing that up a little and making sure that you can find some way to distinguish yourself from other applicants. NYU likes interesting/unique students so make sure that you can prove your individuality. I too want to go there so best of luck to us both!
