Chances, anyone?

Hey guys! I know a lot of people post "chance me"s on this website, but Im like most people: I really want to know what I can improve on in order to get into an Ivy League.
I am a junior. Im undecided as far as majors go, although Im leaning towards the medical field. My top reach schools are Harvard, Yale, Brown, Princeton, Duke, Columbia and Stanford.

Academic: Highly acclaimed public school, 5.3 GPA from first semester of junior year, taking 7 AP's this year (by the time i graduate, i will have taken 18 AP classes in total), top 4 of my class, straight A's all of high school, AP Scholar with Distinction as a sophmore (four 5's on AP exams), Best student athlete 2012

Extracurriculars: Swimming since i was 11 and compete for school, city and Colombian national team. I hold a national record, have various national medals and have been selected for international competitions for the country of Colombia. In USA, ive been to state championships, national meets, and have school records. Im the founder and president of a club at school, and am very active in NHS (2 leadership positions). 200+ service hours

Tests: 790 on spanish subject test, 214 on psat, 1970 on my first sat a few months ago (im trying to get at least a 2200), 5's on all completed ap course examinations

Background info: Hispanic, female, 2nd generation (first generation to apply for usa college), daughter of a single mom, bilingual , around 75,000 annual household income

Please let me know your opinion

Just a little higher Sat score and what is your unweighted gpa

How do you get a 5.3 gpa! That’s way off the charts :)

cameron,My unweighted is 4.0 and what sat score would be ideal?

And thanks Virilus:)

Being Hispanic and first generation, I can honestly say that if you continue doing what you are doing, you can damn near get in anywhere. A 2200+ on the SAT would be helpful, but I don’t think it would be necessary considering the monolith of an application you have there. I am not saying this based on just your Hispanic culture and your first generation status, but based on the fact that you have that AND an impressive resume anyways.

Good luck.

Dunno if this is the right place to ask but do any of you think i stand a chance in princeton RD ?
Had a 1820 on sat reasning (math 700, CR 550, WR 570) SUB : PHY - 800,CHEM - 790, math lvl 2 - 750. TOEFL iBt - 113/120
I am from India and m studying at the city montessori school.
Keeping in mind that its the worlds largest school in terms of pupil strength i hv got a stellar EC record with al sorts of ECs art, esay writing, debatng, quizes etc .
I ws the awardd the mst promisng stdnt of the year award, ws the head of the student council, hv won many national debates (the EC tht m mst pasnate abt)nd participatd in numerous internatnl ones (with lil sucs!) … I hv volunterd at the internatnl cheif justices cnference nd stdnt quality cntrol circles … Hd taught poor children during summer breaks .
I hv been at the top of my class al my high school and never hd a B … Its all As .
Hd teachrs who would enthusiastcly recmnd me.
Hd fine essays.
The only blot seems to be my SAT reasning score … Do i stand a chance as an intrnatnl ? I hv aplied fr phy major

Fascist, thank you for your encouragement:) am I a first generation if my mom got a bachlors degree in Colombia? No one else in my family has gotten a degree in the usa,so does that make me a first gen? My grandmother never got any education at all, so I think I might be 2nd gen if my mothers colombian degree counts

Hey voguekid, you can start a thread of your own for your chances question. However, I personally think you can get in to princeton because it is extremly evident that you show talent in physics, your sat 2 score is stellar. I think princeton understands how hard it is for international students to get a good sat score, so I think your low 1800 would be excuseable

So are you saying that 3 other people in your school also have 4.0 perfect GPAs, with all AP Classes this year and 4 last year…

^Yeah. Even so, getting a 4.0 GPA is nothing to sneeze at for her, especially with AP classes.

5.3 W/4.0 UW GPA, 2200 SAT, 5 AP scores (on 18 AP’s), Nationally ranked swimmer, good leadership positions and EC’s, minority. Honestly, I can’t imagine a more solid applicant. To me, with a 2200, you’re in everywhere you apply (except maybe Harvard and Princeton), if your public school truly is acclaimed the way you say it is.

With a 2000, I’d say Duke would be a match with Brown and Columbia being high matches and the rest being low reaches or reaches.

Quick question: How did you possibly manage to take 18 AP’s. I cannot even imagine how much work that would be.

Thanks to all of you! Yes, my high school is in the top 100 public schools in the nation.

As for me being #4, by the end of the year I should be #2. Number one took a summer college course.

As for the APs, its all in organization and using every valuable minute. My bus ride to school is my golden study time:)
