Chances/ Anything I can do to strengthen application?

Hi everyone,
I go to a small, private school in CT.
GPA: 3.54
ACT Score: 33 (trying to raise to a 34 to be safe)

Senior course load will be: AP Language, Chemistry, Calculus, Spanish 5, Mandarin Chinese III, Economics, and Finance and Business.

Extracurriculars:

  • Varsity Field Hockey Captain (3 year player)
  • Varsity Tennis Captain (3 year player)
  • Horseback riding (10 years)
  • Therapeutic Riding Instructor (~5 years)
  • Club Leader
  • School Newspaper Staff Writer (2 years)
There are a few other small things, but these are the bigger ones.

I’m thinking I might have to play up my Mandarin (+ an exchange trip) to diversify myself.
Does anyone have any advice on how I could strengthen my application? I’m finishing my junior year and Colgate is my top choice. Any thoughts would be greatly greatly appreciated :-*

Make straight A’s from here on out. Your senior course load does not look very challenging. Is this typical for your school?

You’re fine to excellent, except possibly for your current GP (So good advice above). I assume you took physics at some point? Use the Mandarin to distinguish (not diversify) yourself, particularly if you are approaching fluency. Good luck.
