Chances as a french student to UToronto and MacGill for mathematics

Hey everyone. I am a french immigrant that moved to the United States 4 years ago, and going into senior year in a pretty competitive public high school. I was wondering what my chances are for schools like UToronto and McGill. Here are my stats:

-GPA
Weighted: 3.95
Unweighted: ?

  • SAT 1500 superscore (1470 first try, 1480 second try)
  • SAT II Math II: 800 Physics: 780 French: 800

-APs
Sophomore year:
French - 5

Junior year:
Statistics - 5
Computer Science A - 5

Senior year (APs I plan on taking):
Literature
Microeconomics
Macroeconomics
Psychology
Physics C Mechanics
Physics C EM
Calculus BC
European History
And Maybe:
Computer Science Principles

I plan on applying to the universities above in subjects related to mathematics. What SAT score should I aim for to improve my application and it is worth it to take this many APs my senior year?

Thanks everyone.

Your SAT scores are very good, and definitely fine for McGill and Toronto (or for any university in Canada). McGill and Toronto will look at your unweighted GPA, and won’t care about your freshman year of high school.

You don’t need to take so many APs senior year. Given that McGill and Toronto will primarily look at unweighted GPA, this may be counterproductive.

Can you give us a sense regarding what your unweighted GPA is, or at least how many A’s you got and how many B’s?

Do you have any budget limit? I think that I heard that McGill might be doing away with their major tuition break for French citizens, which I think is a shame. If you have any budget issues with McGill and Toronto or for another option you might also want to look at the Université de Montréal. It is also quite a good university, although a bit larger than McGill (not quite as large as Toronto) and not quite as highly ranked.

@DadTwoGirls

Hey thanks for you answer first of all.

And in terms of grades, I get almost no B’s except in English class ofc,.But the problem is that I get a lot of A- instead of A’s which are only a few percents away. That’s why my GPA is not as high as I would like it to be.

And no I do not have a budget limit. The reason I am taking this many AP’s senior year is because I am applying to other international schools and those value very much AP’s.

So what do you think are my chances?
