Hello all,
I am an International Student in Grade 9 applying for US Private High Schools, and I will enter as a sophomore if I make it. This is my first time applying, I am not re-applying. I am applying to The Lawrenceville School, Deerfield Academy, The Loomis Chaffee School and Blair Academy. I do not need FA, as I will enter as a Full Pay Boarding Student. I know that International Students only consist up to 20%, and admission chances are 20% so… In addition, the interviews went really well. TOEFL and Vericant are not worries for me, so don’t take that into consideration. My english is fluent, but my writing skills aren’t as proficient.
A Basic Overview of me:
My SSAT Scores were not ideal but…
In format of Grade Gender / Grade
Overall: 89 / 90
Math: 96 / 97
Verbal: 90 / 89
Reading: 55 / 53
Past transcripts / scores:
A+: Drama, French, Geography, World History, Maths, Music, Science
A-: Computer Science, English
B-: Art, P.E (Physical Education)
Probably good recommendations.
Extra / Co - curricular Activities:
Debating and Public Speaking - 3 years - No special awards, just a consistent debator.
Concert Band - 6 years - Part 1 Bb Clarinet
Big Band (AKA Jazz Band) - 4 years - Part 1 Alto Saxophone
Special Awards:
ABRSM Grade 8 Alto Saxophone Distinction - Basically the highest tier you can achieve for the hardest music test before being a professional musician.
ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Pass - With pass
So once you know a little bit more about me, can you answer a few questions?
- Should I retake my SSAT in December (Pending November Results)? If so what percentile (As I am an international student, the application is more competitive)
- What are my chances to the 4 schools (looks like DA and Lawrenceville are unlikely for now)?
- Should I attend the campus tour? It will cost a bit to do so, but I can afford it.
- Will the schools penalize me for being unbalanced in testing (as in a really BAD reading score)?
Many thanks,
Bob
