I am a Vietnamese student, 8th grade and attend an ordinary public school (not international school, no English speaking classes whatsoever). I got 2118(80%) on the SSAT last month and I’m going to retake it this December. I have a 111 TOEFL iBT score and 9.3/10 average score(10 scale scoring system). I am excellent at Math and I have received many awards, including a Third Prize at the International mathematics Tournaments Of the Towns. I play fingerstyle guitar, a bit of the organ, on the Math team (obviously) and have (hopefully) good recommendation letters. I am currently working on my essays, but I need to know my chances.

Hello,
That’s a good TOEFL score. That would definitely help on the application. That SSAT does not give you an advantage as an international student applying for such competitive schools. Concord is EXTREMELY competitive in test scores as an international student, so try and aim above 95 percentile (my friend was denied to all her schools except Concord, but she scored 99 percentile but no ECs). PEA and PA are even more competitive, and with 80% chances are very low. Not sure about Lawrenceville - I’m applying to it as well as a sophomore student. Not sure about Kent as well.
In December, try and get 95 percentile + (I guess reading brought you down?). Good luck.
Hey,
Thanks for the advice. Actually, I was brought down by the Verbal section and I’m working on that <my november="" score="" was="" 2178="" so="" we="" are="" looking="" forward="" to="" a="" 2200+="" on="" the="" december="" test="">. Good luck with Lawrenceville.
