Teacher rec's should be decent. My essays are well-structured, but of mixed originality. I'm also submitting a CD of both voice and piano pieces.

My own guess, UVA and VA Tech are safety, WashU and Duke are match, and the rest are all reach. I don't know, maybe I overestimate myself. Anyone have any input? Percentage chances would be nice.

I should also say that my school does not rank, but my college counselor places me in the top 5% in my class of 150 or so. So I'd be like 7th in the class or better. I also will not be applying for need-based financial aid to any of the schools. I'll be applying for scholarships at WashU, though.

...Anyone?

I think you have a great chance at Wustl and Duke. Definitely at least a 90%.

GREAT SCORES! GOOD JOB!

Thanks! Anyone else?

Princeton, Yale, Harvard: reach (because they are everyone's reaches, but I think you have a great shot at these three schools)
MIT: match-reach
Duke: match
Washington, UVA: match-safety
VPI: safety

I'd bet on a rejection from MIT.
Washington will waitlist you if you do anything short of saying you'd reject all others schools to go there.
HYP are reaches.
Duke is a reach.
UVA and Virginia Tech are safeties.

When I look at you all I see are scores and numbers. Sorry.

I think you have a good shot Princeton ED. Otherwise HY could be rejections/ waitlists. I think MIT will also come through. I think you need more matches though in the Duke range. I would seriously consider a school like Brown, Dartmouth, or Penn. I know plenty of 1600 valedictorians get rejected from HYPSM, and if you don't get into Duke (which could happen), you're in trouble.

if these stats can't get him into a top school, what the heck do the universities want?

They can, but not HYPS. He MIGHT get in, but its not for sure. Betting everything on Duke is a risk.

I think your chances are solid. I would stress music and math in my applications if I were you. If you show passion in your responses and keep doing what youre doing (ie not slacking off), I think you will love your undergraduate college experience.

Thanks, everyone.
Anyone else? (bump)

Leave off Who's Who Among American High School Students--it's a scam. 240 on PSAT is pretty cool; I haven't seen that on here before.

Also, unless you are active in Mensa, leave that off too. You just look like you're flaunting your IQ score which they already know is high.

really pathetic uscf rating

another typical asian. how boring...
