Chances at a few schools:

GPA: 3.972 (On an unweighted, A = 4 scale. Basically this means I've had one B in all of high school, damn Algebra)

Class rank: 13 of 417

SAT: 1300 Math: 570/Verbal: 730(First try, I'm taking it again on Nov.6 and once more on Dec. 4)

Clubs/activities:
National Honor Society
Young Progressives Club (President)
Newspaper (Editor-in-Chief)
Earth Club
Japan Club (Vice-Prez)

AP Classes:
AP US History (5)
AP English Lit/Comp
AP Macroeconomics
AP American Government

Schools applying to and my thoughts on my chances:
UNC- Chapel Hill (reach)
University of Washington (target)
University of Arizona (safety)
University of Portland (safety)
University of Miami (target)

I'm an Idaho resident, if that helps.

UNC Chapel Hill - Reach (but with a bit higher SAT score, you're in good shape)
University of Washington - Good
University of Arizona - Good
University of Portland - Good
University of Miami - Good

Thanks Anthony, that's about what I was thinking.

Question: Since my verbal score is so much higher than my math score, do colleges look at that? I'm applying as a Journalism major (hence the EIC of the Newspaper) and I've yet to do a calculus problem in a story. I guess what I'm asking is: will colleges only look at the composite or will they discount the math score based on what I want to study?

Sicne you are going into Journalism, they will focus more on your verval, but your math will still be looked at. YOur goals are definately very reasonable, and I think you have a great shot at getting into UNC Chapel Hill

Appreciate that Anthony. UNC is my dream school so I'm working hard to get accepted. I'll bump this to see if anyone has any other comments.

Also, I know I that most of my choices are large public schools. I've already been accepted at Albertson College of Idaho just in case I decide I don't like them.

Bumpity bumpity bizzle.
