Chances at any good colleges?

I have no freaking idea where to apply and I only have about 2 more weeks to do everything. I haven't started a damn thing on college except I'm halfway through the first page of my commonapp. I'm looking into either engineering, journalism, business administration, politics/gov/law or accounting. For sure, nothing in the arts or sciences. Here's my stats (btw, the reason why this is in this forum is because id like to know what my chances are to pretty good schools, nothing like harvard or any of that):

The thing is, I don't know how to say this on my app, but I basically was raised by a nut for a mother. She called police on me, my sisters, my dad 3 times for no reason and she was warned everytime for calling them. She pretty much beat the **** out of me when I was small and cursed at me everyday until my junior year of high school, which probably drastically affected my grades. A little odd, but I guess you could say a note. I never could study cause we had 6 dogs, 5 cats, 20+ birds until she moved out. Strange thing tho is my counselor recommended my weird life.

Sisters went to:
Binghamton University (currently law school in Dayton)
Rochester Institute of Technology

Male Asian (however, I was adopted and we think I am 100% South Korean but there could be african, latino, italian bloodlines, messed up situation)

Mother: high school diploma no college
Father: Hofstra University and a jurisdoctor in law at Tauro Law

What colleges at all please? I have no clue. I only applied two places only because they were free applications and that's St. John's University and University of Hartford. I got offered a scholarship and honors programs for both but they aren't the best schools for academics or so I'm told.

That's pretty much the lower end of the spectrum on this board, everyone here seems to be 1400 SAT guys with A+ GPAs and a ton of extracurriculars but I'd still like to know if I have a shot at any good Schools.

Counselor recommended: Brown+Cornell cause apparently I have 10% chances to both, Colgate 20% chance apparently, NY Binghamton, NY Buffalo, NY Stony Brook, Bucknell, Trinity, Tulane

any other schools I have a 50+% of getting into?
any GOOD schools that I have at least a 20% chance?

Thanks for any help thats given

It's incredible how you've managed to succeed despite your family's tragic circumstances. Perhaps you'd consider applying to Tufts? Your stats are a bit low, but if you explain your circumstances, the empathy might strike a chord.

well they arent tragic but I feel if I told schools my situation they would look at it as an excuse. I really don't want it to be, I just want them to understand that I haven't lived up to my potential yet. The thing that kills me the most is that my mom moved out and now I can actually focus. I'm doing the best I ever have and my tests have gone up dramatically, but idk how I tell this to colleges.

Thanks for suggesting tufts though, I really do appreciate it because I think my guidance counselor may have mentioned them as well, I think Fordham too.

I disagree. You should mention this because it has shaped your development both psychologically and academically. Without telling them, they won't be able to properly gauge you and put you into context of the other engineering applicants, which will have stronger stats than you will.

strength in the face of adversity... you deserve a Kudos

ah, but my worst grades are from when she was still living with me and they improved when she left. I didn't do well when she was living with us, meaning I didn't overcome anything tho.

That's still overcoming a scar. You may not recognize it, but it's there!
