I wanted to apply ED, but I decided to use my time to retake the SAT Is and SAT IIs. Cornell is my top choice.

This year I might a few B+s or possibly a B in the first quarter, but I am also taking 4 ap classes this year (physics AP B, spanish 5 ap, european history AP, and calc AP AB).

I'll probably get great recommendations and essays.

So, what should I expect?

PS: Was I ridiculous for not taking a risk and applying ED despite my scores?

ohhhh you should have really done ED because you could still give them the sat's score in november.. RD just makes it harder for you but I would say you still have a shot :D write a really good essay

Yeah, I'm really mad at myself for not getting all my testing stuff done october/november, since I'm still taking some SATIIs (math & spanish) in december.. erh.
I'm also worried that if I apply RD to both cornell and tufts, I won't get into EITHER one, but if I apply ED II to tufts, I could get in and NEVER find out if cornell would have taken me! I don't want to eliminate my options, but ED II helps A LOT... what do I do??

well how much do you like cornell? if you really like it then wait, it's not like you don't have any chance at getting in, you still do but it's just that the ED could have helped. It's sort of late for ED's for most colleges anyway so why not just concentrate on your sat's and your essays and get in there for the RD, you can do it! :)

I LOVE cornell, but my problem is that I like a lot of schools and I was afraid of getting "boxed in", and then suddenly have a change of mind or something.. but mostly, it was the standardized tests and the fact that I haven't really done the forms or the essays quite yet.

Could I mention in my interview that Cornell is my first choice and I wanted to apply ED but couldn't because of the SATs? or would they just be like, "we don't really care at this point"?

hey you are sorta like me.. i was afraid that i might not be able to go for some random reason but anyway... about your question, do you think they would really care whether you put yourself in that position? I think that cornell wouldn't really want people justifying why they didn't do ed, it's over and you can't do anything now.. just make your essay strong and it will be alright :D plus, you are wasting precious space!!! - i mean on the essay portion of the app
