Chances At Asu?!

<p>Hi everyone. Thanks for taking the time to give me your feedback.
I just applied to ASU last week and I'm anxiously awaiting their response.</p>

<p>I am a white male from a Chicago suburb, and attend a fairly challenging and competitive mostly white, suburban, large, public highschool.</p>

<p>Anyways, my gpa is 2.8/4 and I recieved a 23 on my ACT. I visited ASU over the summer and that is where my heart is set. </p>

<p>You are allowed two deficiencies (2.0, D) but not in the same subject. I have two deficiencies in French however none in any other subjects, so according to that small rule that is one strike against me. I meet all other class requirements.</p>

<p>They are looking for those out of state to have a min of 24 on the act and a min gpa of 3.0, however they consider 2.5-2.99.</p>

<p>For in state they want gpa 3.0 and ACT 22. </p>

<p>Since I fall between the in and out of state requirements for the ACT and seeing as though they could consider my GPA, I feel as though I still have a chance to get in. They let in 91% of the students that apply, and personally, I don't feel as though I am the lower 9% that apply academically.</p>

<p>Do you think a state college like ASU which clearly lets in thousands of students (50,000 tempe campus, largest in US) will let me slide or will they stay firm to their minimum requirements?</p>

<p>You neglect to realize there is more than one ASU, and you never actually specified. But the 50,000 students was a giveaway. Arizona.</p>

<p>You'll probably get in. They deny so few people. Basically, there has to be a huge, glaring defect in your application for you to be denied. You're below average, even for their requirements, but you'll probably get in.</p>

<p>But that aside thank you for your response! This gives me the help I need to get through the waiting process... (hopefully only a few more weeks) but don't worry though I'm not building my hopes up. I'd rather be suprised than devistated.</p>

<p>Well, I didn't get into ASU. That pretty much shatteres all my plans.</p>

<p>I am petitioning my denial and sending the admissions office a letter.</p>
