I Got Rejected... Petitioning.

I got rejected from Arizona State University... which is pretty sad I'll admit. That was my top choice. I have a 2.81/4 GPA and I recieved a 23 on my ACT. I know I am not the top student lol.

In-state requirements are at least 22 on ACT or 3.0 GPA, and Out-of-state requirements are minimum 24 on ACT or 3.0 GPA. I guess I missed that by one point with the ACT, and they ACTUALLY rejected me. I suppose the system worked because it is keeping another kid from out of state from attending.

However, I was given the option to petition my denial, and I am going to do so. Does anyone know how effective this is? I am also sending the school a letter telling them why I strongly feel they were wrong in their decision. It's very persuasive but definately not despirate.

I also applied to U of AZ in Tucson, but if I didn't get into ASU I think I have a lesser chance of getting in there. And I just last night applied to Northern Arizona University, which has the same requirements as ASU but I believe they don't take in consideration the out-of-state-importantance as much as ASU does; So I may have a better chance.

I did get into Northern Illinois University but I would really rather umm... not live here.

I want to live somewhere in a warmer climate and in a large urban area. I am hoping that if I get into NAU I can transfer after the first year with better chances for ASU. If i get into U of AZ, i'll stay all four years.

I'm just gonna keep trying my luck and hopefully get into an Arizona university!

It can't hurt to petition it. There's another ACT testing on October 28, if you think you could improve (sign up by 10-6).

Usually colleges that have minimums, especially modest ones, abide by them. For the same $30K you would spend there oos, there are pleanty of private colleges in warm weather you can go to. Look at schools like Whittier and UOP in CA.
