**I originally was taking AB Calculus, but I was doing terrible and needed to drop it. Not showing in transcript but I wrote it on my college applications, so I sent a letter to the schools saying that I am taking H International Relations instead of Calculus, because it is where my true interests lie, and it is the same level of difficulty (Honors level for Honors level)

Awards
-Presidential Volunteer Service award (10th, 11th)
-John and Abigail Adams Scholarship (12th)

**I put this Scholarship Award on all of my applications even though I am not applying to UMASS. Didn't really think that one through, guess it can't hurt me though.

Job

I also wrote a strong essay, and my teacher recommendation should be decent with a great counselor recommendation.

Chances?

BC and Syracuse are most likely reaches. if i had to guess i'd say rejection from bc cuz of the gpa, but essays could change that... the others you shouldn't have any trouble with. good luck :)

BC- reach
GW- match/slight reach
UM-CP- match if in state- slight reach if out of state
UConn- safety
UVM- safety
Syracuse- match/slight reach
Northeastern- match
Loyola- i think match but i really dont know

Well I can't comment on most of the universities, but hopefully you are a match or safety for Northeastern, as I have the exact same SAT as you (1350) and my GPA is only 0.6 higher. Boston college might be a slight reach. Have you considered BU, which is actually more reputable, but is not as selective?

BU is not more reputable than BC, i dont know where you get that idea from. maybe among the general, college ignorant public it is, but people who know colleges know that BC is a better school than BU in most areas

Sorry, if I offended you. By reputable I was implying renowned. The school isn't necessarily "better", but it is more widely known. Also, the people of Boston, from what I have been told, look more favorably towards BU than BC. Wheter it's true or not I have also heard from students that some of BC's classes can be convuluted by Catholic Orthodoxy. Anyway you can never definitively state that one school is better than another because colleges are not comparable. There are too many parameters. Why did this irritate you so much?

because its an ignorant statement. people from boston dont look down on BC, and you should get your facts straight before misinforming people on this board. In 95% of the classes at BC, you wouldnt be able to tell that youre at a Catholic school. I am not religious at all, so I choose not to pay attention to the fact that BC is Jesuit. The administration is a bit more conservative than at other schools of similar ranking, but thats about the only difference. You just cant base your opinion on a college based on what the people in the city think of it. People who have only heard of BU and not BC and/or confuse the two are ignorant towards colleges and their opinions arent worth anything. Thats all, I would just rather not have people spreading false information on this site.

As previously stated I was implying BU is more widely known, not necessarily better. Though, maybe for baseless reasons, it is more widely known than BC. Evidently, the illustriousness of a school doesn't defninitively affect the rate of education, but it is advantageous. Most students attend college, so that they can pursue jobs post graduation and the more widely know an institution is the more doors it opens. I believe, I'm sure others do as well, that BU opens more doors. My goal in life is not to spread fallacious information on sites, believe it or not.

P.S. What really irritates me is when people don't use apostrophes for their contractions

I don't like BU's atmosphere, doesn't have the college feel that I am looking for. BU is a great school, but BC is without a doubt a better one. I live outside of Boston and I've never met someone that looks down upon BC. Large fan base for all of their sport teams.

I don't think Syracuse is a reach, I think it is easier to get into than UCONN.
