Chances at Boston College

Hi everyone,

I am currently a junior at high school in the Midwest and was wondering what my chances at my dream school (Boston college) are. My gpa is a 4.5 out of 5, as I am in all honors/ ap classes and receive an equal mix of A’s and B’s each semester. As far as standardized testing goes, I received a 32 on my ACT and a 1420 on my SAT. I have been on the bowling and softball teams for my school for the past 3 years, and am also a peer tutor, freshman mentor, and member of NHS. So based on my information, what are my chances at this school? I love the campus, religious affiliation, as well as the morals the school encourages!

You look to be a competitive candidate but I don’t really chance. Keep in mind that things like LORs , essays, ECs also play a role in the admissions process.

As a bit of unsolicited advice, I do want to warn you against setting up any one school as your “dream school.” The people I see who get most hurt in this process are the ones who pin all their hopes and dreams on one school and then don’t get in. If you love BC you should also love a number of other wonderful Catholic colleges such as Villanova, Providence, as well as some other excellent Jesuit schools http://www.ajcunet.edu/institutions

Hey! I’m a senior from CA and I was accepted to BC early action in November. I had similar stats, the impressive GPA (4.6) and decent SAT (1440), so in that sense you’re competitive. I was accepted to MCAS for biological sciences, so I think depending on which school you apply to, the chances are different. I also played a sport throughout high school and tutored younger students so we are very similar on paper. I do agree with what @happy1 said, I had another school set as my dream school and got rejected ED. I think you’re chances are solid but remember somethings are really important that can’t be measured quantifyingly like your common app essay and the supplement you write for BC (I think my supplement is why I was accepted). Good luck!! I hope you get in(:! Go eagles!
