Chances for BC?

So I’m getting kind of nervous because BC is my first choice, and I know admission has gotten really competitive lately. I applied RD (I needed 2nd quarter to boost up my grades in a few AP classes) to CAS, pre-med (even more competitive?)

Gender: female
Ethnicity: Asian
School: public, but very competitive. definitely has a good reputation among Ivies and other top colleges
Rank: top 5-10%
GPA: 3.90 UW, 4.30 W
Heavy courseload senior year
Excellent teacher and guidance counselor recommendations

Scores
SAT: 1430/2180
SAT II: Math Level 2-720; US History-720
AP scores: U.S. History- 5

Extracurriculars:
have played guitar for past 6 years/participated in annual concerts
National Honor Society, Latin Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society (officer)
People for Animal Welfare Club (including hours of volunteer work)
Various internships at local hospital (total of 50 hours or so)
Math and Latin tutor (math tutoring was voluntary, about 35 hours)

Strengths: GPA, SAT scores, teacher recs. My personal essay was about an experience that expresses Jesuit values (community service, helping the poor).
Weakness: diversity of extracurriculars…pretty much just music + community service clubs

Any comments would be appreciated. I think I have a good shot, but nothing really stands out in my application that would make me confident. I’m also worried that declaring pre-med might hurt my chances because there might be a more competitive pool there. Thoughts?

You’ll probably get in.

I would say fairly solid chance. Also, to ease any worry you might have about it being harder to get into pre-med, when I spoke with the director of the pre-med program, he said the only thing you have to do to get into the pre-med program is, once you get into BC, give your e-mail and what not to the pre-med department people, and you are technically a pre-med student. Good Luck

i agree with salomon. pre-med may make a different at schools such as holy cross, but at BC, pre-med is a very open program. anyone can sign up for pre med, and in admissions it certainly doesnt carry any significant weight if it carries any at all. i listened to a presentation regarding premed at an admitted students day and the director said students flit in and out of the program constantly, so i wouldnt worry about having declared pre med. i would say your stats seem to merit admissions also; you can look at the students that were already admitted in the class of 2014 in this thread and compare yourself to them. but if i were you i wouldnt worry too much, bc seems like a definite. i know i was happy to get my letter in december, so i hope you get the big envelope in march/april as well!

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I just wish the letter would get here already, lol. Good luck to everyone else who applied and is still waiting for results!
