PS. brown is my dream school. (:

I'm from Rhode Island, and I'll be graduating from a public school so I'll tell you as an instate student what I think about the school. Brown is not my cup of tea (not that I could get in anyway) but I applied to all big public southern universities, so obviously Brown is the opposite of that. Looking at your credentials, they are pretty solid. Without a doubt, I would apply because you def. have a chance. As you know, Brown is an extremely competitive school so if you apply and get rejected DO NOT be discouraged at all. However, you have pretty strong grades and I know people that have got accepted with a smiliar, or even weaker of a resueme. About the actual school- most of the students that go there are VERY LIBERAL/DEMOCRATS and a LOT of hippies! so if you are very liberal then you would fit in well. If hippies annoy you- then be prepared. However, a degree from Brown would def. be worth putting up with those people if you are not one! lol. If I was you I would for sure apply though. Providence is a pretty cool city so the location is pretty nice too.

Definitely in the competitive pool of applicants. Get a strong SAT Score (2200+ if possible, looks possible from your PSATs), and you will have good chances. :)

Good Luck!

Hippies? I don't think so.

hippies may be a term that can be taken in many different ways. By hippies I mean "extremely liberal", not that all extremely liberal people are hippies, but you catch my drift. Peace, love and eco-friendly products. (not that that's bad) and I'm also speaking about the brown surrounding area- like all of the people that hang out on thayer st. and many of them are certainly, hippies.

Damn. Only liberals? I'm a liberal, but it's always fun to have a few conservatives around for kicks. And bashing political heads is pleasurable.

which school do you go to? i'm from an nj public school in passaic county (hawthorne)

thanks everyone for the feedback. bicyclekick - i go to a school in middlesex county. haha. (:

well of course there are SOME conservatives. probably the steryotypical "rich republicans" but for the most part its an extremely liberal school

er.. well i've only visited once last year. i probably should again before i apply for sure, but thanks for the heads up. haha (:

btw any other opinionssss?

I think you have a very good chance. Impressive scores, great summer activities (the scholarships for leadership conference seems especially impressive), and you seem very involved.

You say you didn't list some other clubs you aren't heavily involved with--an interesting comment since you listed a lot of clubs and other things you are a part of! Make sure you elaborate specifically on your work in each organization/club, and if it hasn't been a lot then reconsider putting it on your application.

thanks kicharo :) i'll definitely narrow down the clubs. i feel like i'm heavily involved in the ones i mentioned above, some more than others, but still a worthy member. thanks for the great post

Definitely a good chance. Except I would recommend retaking that math sat II; as an asian, you really need to be getting an 800 on that test in particular, as an incredible majority of asians get the 800, so a 780 puts you fairly below average.

haha, oh goodness. the asian thing coming to bite me. thanks for the recommendation, i was definitely considering it.

You seem to be doing very well. You should definately apply!

ah thanks. i'm almost positive i'm applying, i jsut dk if it's gonna be ED/which specific field.

Hmm...well....you seem to be competitive enough to apply into the ED applicant pool, also if Brown is your dream school you should definately shoot for it.

it's mostly teh parents. and also, i'm not good with making solid, binding decisions. =X haha, maybe i just need to visit more places and see. but brown, wow. i'd be so happy there.

You have fine scores; the difference between a 780 and an 800 is statistically insignificant and would not be a reason that Brown would reject you.
