<p>What are my chances at carnegie mellon?</p>

<p>Junior
large competitive public, around 1300 kids in graduating class
top 12%
2020 sat(740 math,640 reading, 640 writing)
I take hardest courseload available(IB program)
EC's= band(years, varsity bowling team, FBLA(10-11), Lit Crit, NHS, math club, over 200 hours of volunteer hours
and im indian</p>

<p>... Mate, you need to say which school you are applying for... In general, it looks like you stand a good chance, but don't forget, Teacher recs and your essay (and the suppliment essay) are all very important, but yah I think you being Indian will help. :)</p>

<p>I think he means indian like asian indian, which will hurt, not native american, which would help. It depends a lot on which school you are applying to within cmu.</p>

<p>Well, either CIT or Tepper, but I know that Tepper is very competitive.</p>

<p>I'd say CIT is slightly more competitive. Anyway, since both schools are among the tougher ones to get into at CMU I'd place it at a slight reach.</p>

<p>This is a hard one. Your class rank and hard courseload seem to cancel each other out and your SAT is almost exactly the avg SAT.</p>
