nyc private schools have sports as phys ed, ie in the fall your phys ed is soccer or football, in winter, basketball or wrestling, in spring lacrosse or baseball. All that is done within parameters of school – remember he’s in middle school, so its not HS level. Field hockey is probably a saturday recreation, and swimming is an afterschool experience, on a sunday, saturday and one evening a week. He also has a full time counselor helping him to get into BS, and telling him exactly what his chances are, so any guess anyone on cc makes, will be useless.

the only correct statement was that sports are during the day
i swim everyday
i do soccer on the weekends
and i dont have a counselor otherwise i would not be on this website

if you go to a nyc "prep"school, as you stated, then the school has an in house professional dedicated to helping people apply to college and BS

I don’t know what NYC prep school you go to… I know that virtually all of them offer a professional admissions counseling TEAM. My cousins attend four different NYC Prep Schools and they looked at around 30 before they picked.

I doubt that you have said, “Can you please tell me if based on my application, I stand a fair chance at being accepted to these boarding schools?” and they said they won’t help you.

Personally, I think that if someone isn’t spending their time after school or on weekends for a sport, it shouldn’t even be mentioned. I mean if I included PE stuff, I could say I play , lacrosse, handball, Aerobie, and a handful of other stuff.

Also, I agree with ItalianBoarder, there are always counselors in “prep schools,” heck, even in my public school we have a guidance counselor who knows a little here and there about prep schools. Besides, no school, be it public or private, wants a smart student to leave their school, as it reduces everything.

Next, are you sure there are no honors courses? Especially in a prep school. Most public and most private schools have honors, my school does for some subjects, for instance. I’m taking honors geometry, honors spanish 1b, and honors English, BTW I’m in eighth grade.

Jyun212: I would be more careful about what you say. A coach could read this and see your other posts and not like what he sees. You do not want to be able to identified. And an asian football player is not very common… so I would be careful.
