ummm actually, outside of say the top 20 schools in the us (probably actually higher), i doubt that the education at nus pales in comparison to american universities. honestly.

Northwestern has good engineering programs as well as University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Caltech too.

goingforcolumbia, if you're in NUSHS, why not try for some olympiads? you can try in your junior year if i'm not wrong. and believe me stuff like chemistry olympiad is very muggable - i've a friend who started from just basic O level chem at the start of JC1 and mugged all the way for eight months to a SChO gold, and then IChO silver. its unfortunate that you're an Indian national and can't represent Singapore in IChO, though.

Here's what you need to do:

Don't apply to schools for the names.

Don't determine your major just based on the school you attend. Olin, Mudd, Stanford, and MIT want students who are actually passionate about what they do and not international prestige-whores.

Learn how to spell the names of schools you are applying to. (Stanford).

Post here after you actually take the SAT. If you expect to get into these top math/science schools you should realize that no score is 100% "guaranteed" statistically. So we don't want to be given ridiculous arbitrary ranges of scores that you just pulled from no where.

Realize you probably have a very small chance at schools like MIT and Stanford. Apply to less selective schools instead of just the prestigious ones.

Also, why does it seem like all of the threads like this are from internationals?

Seriously, 90% of the ridiculous "what are my chances?" threads on here are from international students.
