Chances at Duke, UNC, or BU

I was wondering how I was looking as of now(I'm a sophomore) and if I was on track.

Here's my stats,
Current GPA, 3.8
2 honors classes, global 9 and 10

These are the classes that I am scheduled for next year,
AP Psychology
AP US History an Government
English 11
Trig
Chemistry
Anatomy
Spanish 3

I also plan during my senior year to do 1/2 a day at the hospital through new visions, as I would like to have a career in the medical field.

EC's
Positive Options Project
Field hockey team
Field Hockey Manager (I had a season ending injury)
Mentoring
Volunteering at the hosptial
Volunteering at the animal shelter
Volunteering at the library

Chances?

Anyone? Please help me!

It is all dependent on your test scores, I have friends at my school who rank at the top 10% (which is all above 4.0 GPAs) and can barely push 1900 on their SATs, and then I have a friend with a 3.4 GPA that gets a 2250 on his first sitting no studying. Its really hard to judge the caliber of a student off of solely GPA.

Also your ECs do not show the focus that colleges like, you are showing that you enjoy volunteering in a variety of locations, but you do not demonstrate your passions through ECs, keep the Field Hockey, sports are always good to have, but find what you truly enjoy and pursue it, not because you need it for college, but because you will enjoy it. You say you want to do something medical related, well then consider doing an internship or shadowing with Doctors, doing some independent research, etc.

Additionally, are you applying to UNC instate? that is another factor

If you want me to give you a reasonable estimate, I will just explain a few scenarios

with decent ECs all around

Assuming Less than 1900 on the SATs - you have very little chance, might want to look at other schools
Assuming 1900-2100 - BU is realistic, UNC instate is realistic, OOS is a reach, duke is a reach
Assuming 2100-2300 - BU in , UNC instate in, Duke reach
Assuming 2300+ - probably in to all schools

Thanks! I plan during my senior year doing a highly selective program which you shadow doctors at my local hospital. I am definitely going to beef up on my EC’s next year. Also in your opinion which is better SAT or ACT?
