You should know you are living in a different time zone.
Your SAT is too low for UMich Engineering, try to get 2100+.

what about the others??
will a good sat subject test score increase my chances at umich??

ive heard people getting into purdue with 1700 scores but im aiming at umich uiuc ut austin so im not really very sure about those

I don’t know about the other schools but Gatech, you might have good chance IF you fix your SAT score…get a 2100+ for Engineering…ur grade 10 percentage will help but how did u end up getting a 95% if you say you have “bad grades”…define bad grades? Engineering schools typically want students who get As but if you did slip here and there, did you show an “upward trend” as in an improvement in ur grades across the years? that will help…

on the other hand, Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1520849-chance-me-stern-pleasee.html thanks

well my high school is known for giving students bad grades but the grade 10 exam is a national one which is scored but the icse. so i got a 95%.say i dont take the sat 1 again, will a 700+ in sat math level2 and chem get me in?

Dude If you have the money apply to all and see if you can get into any of the schools you said. All the schools have good engineering programs and a good reputation for the most part. Just go try your luck. Your SAT scores was about the same as mine and I did not have as much extracurricular activities as you and I got into purdue as an out-of-state student. You should not only worry about getting in as well you should know how you are going to handle engineering related courses in these schools too because they are extremely difficult at these schools you just mentioned and the same is at purdue where I go.

thanks eogiesoba i will definitely apply to most of them if not all.nevertheless im very keen on umich as the program as well as the social scene there is good, hopefully good sat subject test scores will help me. will applying early action to umich help?

Try UIUC, you are near their 50%. UMich does not require SAT2. Nevertheless, if you get 800 in math2, it may help a little bit. With 700 in SAT1 Math is not very convincing for engineering.

Do NOT send in MATH 2 unless they require you to(~600 is WAY too low for MATH 2 because it has such a generous curve. Therefore, you must aim for higher than 750).
umich-Reach
gtech-Reach
ut austin-High Match
purdue-High Match
uiuc-Match

Your status as an international student, as well as your GPA, will hurt you.

Try to write a GREAT GREAT GREAT essay(NO GENERIC ONE, I’ve seen too many of those).

Chance me back?

thanks spirral and i did not say 600 on sat math level 2 i said 670+ probably 700+ anyway spirral why do u say ut austin is a high match ive heard its tough getting in there i thought uiuc was probably easier. and do you hav any idea about the scholarships or financial aid any of these colleges give??

I think you should be okay for UT Austin and Purdue. UMichigan is going to be tougher but if you raise your SAT’s you should be fine!

UT-Austin engineering is very hard to get into as an out-of-state student. It’s also very expensive. Only about eight students TOTAL (freshmen through senior) receive waivers to pay in-state tuition.

ive heard that one needs a 2200 for ut austin engineering, so brann how will i be fine for ut with a 1980? purdue i agree though
what about uiuc??

The thing is, with a SAT score of less than 2000, you’re really pushing your luck. You need to work on that.
The other thing I am a little concerned about is your SAT subject tests. You should be taking those tests to prove to the schools that you know the subject. But if you’re going to show them a score less than 750, I wouldn’t bother. Otherwise, you’re just saying “Hey, I KIND OF know this subject.”
Other than that, everything seems good.

maine longhorn im guessing your from ut austin. if you are can u tell me the sat range for engineering beacuse the ranges i hav found online seem to vary quite a bit. also, exactly how selective is the school?? with my scores should i even consider applying?? or do i really stand a chance of being accepted??

can early action help me for uiuc and michigan??
