Chances at Georgetown (EA), Tufts, PSU 6 Year Med!!!

I'm an Asian American located in the suburbs of Phila.

Intended Major: Pre-med with concentration in Math

Let me explain my situation. Midway through my sophomore year I was diagnosed with a neurological disorder in the spinal cord that forces the blood vessels to constrict and it keeps constricting until you get 0 oxygen to your muscles and you become handicapped and the muscles undergo atrophy. Instead of sitting out of school, I decided to go to school anyway and did quite well.

Note: My recovery process is speeding up and I'll be healthy by the end of summer!!

GPA: 3.61 UW (our school doesn't do weighted)

One of my recs is coming from the most prolific Pediatric Rheumatologist in the world. He is the one who treated me.

Georgetown is my first choice and I'm applying EA. Tuft and the PSU 6 year BS/MD program are in my top 3 also.

thanks for your time!!!

My first question why Georgetown? Besides that you have very strong stats for the schools that you will be applying too. It's a relief to see someone post chances of schools other than HYPSM (although I am guilty of doing just that). Regardless, you have strong math ECs, did you attend USAMO, with such high AIME scores? Overall, I would say you have an above average chance three schools on your list (especially Penn State).

I missed USAMO by 1 question :(

I just don't like HYPSM. I think the kids there are too arrogant. I would like to go to Med School and it doesn't really matter where you go undergrad anyway. GU has alot of opportunties like strong study abroad programs and National Institute of Health.

bump (10 char)

G town is very... concerned about their rank.. they are ranked 23 in the nation. they deserve better. thus they are looking mainly at g.p.a, sats, and sports. If your g.p.a was 3.7 uw and higher I ould say you were in. the rest of the school your in though.

"G town is very... concerned about their rank.. they are ranked 23 in the nation. they deserve better. thus they are looking mainly at g.p.a, sats, and sports."

That makes absolutely no sense. AND my SAT I and II are solid. I am also an athlete. My GPA is low, but there is some justification to why it might be slightly low.

I think you'll get in Gtown with a solid essay.
