Chances at Harvard, Amherst, Stanford, Duke, Penn, Dartmouth, William and Mary, UVA

go to amherst yo

i wish, they are certainly one of my top choices

do you get my joke yet?

umm sure. but yah, anyone else have prognostications ;)

yea, go ahead use every big word ya got memorised. I guess we don't share a similar sense of humor. Actually, i was playing with the letters in your name. Instead og imdashep, i wrote imasheep, if you pronouce it correctly, you get i'm a sheep. Sigh, it sucks that i have to tell you, i thought it was witty, but i guess not. btw, no offence was intended, just innocuous fun.

umm yah, i got the sheep thing buddy, it wasnt that hard. just not all that funny haha

not intended to be hard, just a play with letters. Like i said, not a similar sense of humor. i think calling someone as a sheep or any animal is funny for that matter. Whatever, maybe i've been watching too much of the Simpsons lately.

Harvard- Reach (for everyone)
Amherst- don't know
Stanford- Reach
Duke- Slight Reach
Penn- Slight Reach
Dartmouth- Reach
William and Mary- Match
UVA- Match

yah id probably agree with that icyfire. amherst is very selective, and it also has a class size of 1/4 the size of harvards. i think i have hooks at harvard (double legacy, ssp there this summer) and amherst (grew up there), but who knows. the odd thing is i might have a better shotat harvard than at all the other schools except for duke. should be interesting i guess. would appreciate any more assessments

you have an advantage in the fact that your dad went to harvard for undergrad and your only malfactor is your GPA. still, i'd say a lock at UVA, William&Mary; probable at Amherst, Duke (they love math), and Penn. it could go either way at Harvard, and Stanford is always so erratic, so i guess that's hard to judge.

isn't DMB from charlottesville? :) Good luck

my friend went to SSP this summer and loved it. (we are juniors this year). did you get any of your harvard professors to write you recs?

i honestly think that everyone here is being a little too optimistic
im not an adcom, but thats not a very high gpa
and duke is getting harder and harder to get into
prepare yourself for some surprises
congrats on w&m

Good luck.

yea, I agree, ppl are being too optimistic I think. but who knows, you'll hear back soon anyway. the thing that kills you is your GPA. by no means is your GPA bad, but for the places you applied it isn't too great. your SAT1 is awesome but then your SAT2s are nothing spectacular, too. they're good but not 750+, which many ppl claim you need for HYP and so forth. your ECs are really interesting, tho, so that could only help you out. I dunno, jus considering your transcript is what's weighed first even over test scores, yours could really hurt you. bleeeh, I dunno, good luck! tell us how you did in a few weeks :)

dmb is from cville yah, i see him around every so often when they arent on tour. more often seen are the drummer and the violen guy.

yah i do realize gpa and sat 2s killed me. i think the B+s at SSP help though. also with the gpa, those are in hard courses, and it is a very good school. generally kids here get screwed because teachers grade fairly hard. even so we have a very impressive list of colleges accepted to so far, so thats good. also, 3.85 from here is good enough to get into Harvard, just that i didnt do well the first years because i didnt give a crap about school and all that jazz. hopefully the improvement thing works in my favor, but i have to think that the last few guys are right

hahahah whoever wrote the imasheep thing is retarded.

yea, i wrote it, but how was it retarded?

haha agreed pentasa

answer the question and offer some proof.

mmm, no response??? never mind, i understand the hostility. You're concerned about your grades obscuring your path to harvard. Getting to harvard is like getting through an extremely complex labyrinth, and if anything blocks the paths, the chances of making it through are nil-none. Not saying your chances at harvard are nil, but i they certainly have dropped since I intially read your stats because of your, to put it bluntly, poor gpa. I get your frustration and, yea understandably a (okay i admit it) not too witty joke gets on your nerves.
Just an apology for posting something off topic when you were hysterical about your chances.
