How do you get the honor of getting the AP Scholar award?

pass 3 AP tests (well, there's some average score u hav to hit, but just get 4s and 5s and you will be well above it)
Scholar w/ Honor=4
Scholar w/ Distinction=5
National AP Scholar=8
State AP Scholar=a lot....don't worry about this one

umm, just fyi national ap scholar is gonna be highr than state ;) but yah just take a couple and you get it. i took 3 last year, taking 3 or 4 this year. the people who take like 10 or whatever, that jus counteracts everything the AP was put in place for. I mean you are supposed to get something out of the class, not just take a test. Is a freshman going to get the same out of a class that a senior will? Of course not, its crap.

actually, it's not just state ap scholar it's like the state winner, typically you need around 20 ap tests to get that (take the most aps in the entire state, not so easy is it?)

yea good luck getting state ap scholar imdasheep...PM me when you do
good try

haha not going to get the ap thing, or if i do it would be too late for college help.

maybe you didnt catch on--that was sarcasm.

What does your average have to be to be an AP Scholar w/ honor? I'm thinking that getting it after junior year could be an asset to college apps.

dude, everyone gets your jokes, they just arent funny

yah the ap scholar after junior year helps i would think, just i started taking aps as a junior, so thats all i am going to get credit for for college. there are people who do like 6 aps a year from 9th grade on, which in my opinion is just stupid

it wasnt a joke. you are THE smartest person ever. dont call me dude

The 710 IIC will definitely hurt. What percentile is that, like 60th?

haha wow

yah it was about there, a little higher. i got royally screwed on that, the first 25 were easy, so i double checked them really quickly, then the next were just brutal. the thing is i took that when i didnt have to, so maybe i shouldnt have submitted it

Guys,
I am from Taiwan, studying in the international school of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. I have been in the international school since the fourth grade (I am now in grade 11). During grade 9-10, I was doing the IGCSE course from Cambridge University, and now I am doing the IB diploma and here are the courses that I am now taking:
-English Standard Level
-French Standard Level
-History Standard Level
-Mathematics Higher Level
-Biology Higher Level
-Chemistry Higher Level
-Theory of Knowledge
-CAS and Extended Essay
My averge GPA is about 4.1~4.2. (about 3rd in ranking) For the Old SAT I got 1400 (V: 610 M: 790) and planning to take the new one (planning to acheive 2150+ on the new one). I'm expecting about 800 for Math IIC, 770+ for Biology M and 750+ for Chemistry. My TOEFL result was: 650 PBT and TWE: 5.5. And I am anticipating excellent recommendations from my teachers.
My grades are: (1~7 highest)
-English Standard Level-7
-French Standard Level-6
-History Standard Level-7
-Mathematics Higher Level-7
-Biology Higher Level-7
-Chemistry Higher Level-7
-Theory of Knowledge-6

I am now the leader of the concert band and string ensemble of my school, and I have participated in Model United Nations in Seoul and Beijing. I have taken music exams from the Associate Board of Royal Schools of Music, and passed grade 7 violin and grade 5 theory examinations.
I have been accepted into the summer school at Harvard University and Cornell.
I decided to attend the summer college at Cornell; it is a research program in biology and I am one of the only 6 admitted into the progam; it was very competitive.
I am planning to major in molecular biology.

How are my chances at:
Harvard/Princeton/Yale (with ED?)
Stanford/MIT- for MIT I don't need SAT I because I am an international student! (with ED?)
Columbia/Brown
Cornell
University of Chicago
the UCs
UT - Austin

Thanks for you guys' help.

Jared Chen

I strongly believe you have a good shot at all those schools. I woudl say you are a "competitive applicant." Just like majority of the other kids on this board. Your grades are not amazing which will hurt you but whatever, you are good my friend. And I would say that wherever you go, know that you are quite intellilgent and whatever school that does nto accept you, their loss.

JARED!!! STOP STEALING OTHER PEOPLE'S THREADS!! START YOUR OWN. ON TEH CHANCES SCREEN CLICK "NEW THREAD" AND START YOUR OWN THREAD. DONT TAKE SOMEONE ELSE'S!!! I am not being mean again, but it is not fair to imdahshep. PLEASE START YOUR OWN THREAD PLLLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEEE

mjs4n6 stop going around and criticizing what people post on the web!!! It is supposed to be a forum for discussion and the point is to help each other out in his/her college application!!! It doesn't matter where the message is posted, so just think about that. Thanks

No, you should start your own thread. It's rude to the original poster.

I agree with the labyrinthe metaphor, especially for something like GPA. But this would be a difficult case to evaluate because your ECs are very good, but to be perfectly honest, I think your chances are slightly lower than what you posted earlier. Usually, some schools will really like your ECs, some won't. For example, UVA admissions is mostly about GPA and school stats, and I've seen high GPA people get in with a rather empty EC list.

On the other hand, congrats on yor acceptance to W and M! That's not a bad school.

I'd say that you should get into UVA.

The rest is a crap-shoot but I'd be surprised it you did not get at least one acceptance.

Based on your stats only, you are in the running at all the schools you mentioned. Even though for instance you didn't get a likely letter to UVA, that doesn't mean that you won't get in. Stay in there.

thanks yah, i would probably agree with wouldbemd for my chances. my dad got a letter from duke because he is an alumni, but it was just saying "we give alumni's children a special look, and someone from alumni affairs will stand up for them".....but that could basically be to get him to donate. then again havent gotten one from harvard like that, so who knows.

as for uva, ehh, i dont really care too much about them anymore ;) i live in charlottesville, so now that I got into W&M, I very much doubt id go to UVA.
