Need any other info?

what were you thinking in freshmen year?!
but holy ***** high test scores that are gonna get you into most of those schools

gl

a very close family friend of mine had a 2.1 GPA freshman year and ended up going to yale. This year she was a rhodes scholar.

So don't give up hope!

Classof08, I strongly disagree. Just because he has a 2380, does not guarantee him admission at "many of those schools." Sure his grades have an upward trend but still a 2.0 is hard to overlook.

My guess is that Delaware honors is not even a safety. You never know how schools will react to that GPA, despite your strong test scores.

oh come on. freshman year will have been three years old by the time he enrolls in college. i think you've got a pretty good chance.

decent chance. You've got the scores, the essay, the recs, the sport, possible downsides - lack of ECs, any other awards? academically, etc?

Just because your GPA sucks monkey nuts! Don't be dissing the smart people.

I'm gonna go ahead and say you'll be rejected from almost all of those schools. The others ones are still large reaches.

His GPA sucks! He took Geometry as a freshman!!!

what does taking geometry as a freshman have anything to do with his GPA... A lot of people take Geometry as a freshman, I've even heard of some people that finish AP Calc BC as a sophomore!

I'm making fun of him because I think he is being rude.

I think a lot of people think they're better than they really are just by looking at that list of schools... although Stanford doesn't really care what you did in 9th grade so you'll be ok there

dude just because you've got high scores doesn't "guarantee" you s**t. I have pretty high scores (2310) and got deferred EA from Stanford. Plus I have all A's and I'm ranked #1. I'm not saying that 2.0 freshman year is gonna bring you down a whole lot. I'm just saying the test scores don't necessarily push you up a whole lot. You have as decent a chance as most people at those schools, which sadly is not too high.

DanJH, scores are one thing, but ECs, honors, leadership, essays, and recs are also included

tru dat. I'm not saying I thought I was a shoe-in for stanford, I knew it was a long shot. I'm just saying that just because he turned his grades around and got good scores doesn't meen he's guaranteed anything like Classof08 said.

I took geometry freshman year and i got into Harvard...

Good luck. I had a shoddy freshman year too (not 2.0 tho). I think the essay will make or break u.

Schools:
Harvard~rejected
Georgetown~in
UVA~in
Stanford~rejected
MIT~rejected
Penn~rejected
Northwestern~in
Princeton~rejected
Yale~rejected

Safety- Delaware Honors ~in

^ I completley disagree.

Colleges will look at your grades and then look at your scores and see that you have "intellectual flare", something very hard to distinguish from hard work. This alone will probably get you into one of the nation's most prestigious colleges. The upward grade trend really helps. Btw, you should also include an explanation of your freshman year grades...it will help colleges to see that you really wish to attend their schools. Here is what I think will happen to you

Schools:
Harvard-Rejected/Waitlist
Georgetown-In
UVA-In
Stanford-In (they dont look at freshman grades)
MIT-In, only if you have varied extrtacurriculars though
Penn-Rejected (penn looks at the whole picture)
Northwestern-iffy, you'll probably get in though
Princeton-waitlist
Yale-In

Safety- Delaware Honors -In

you have good chances... but...

... as if you arent trying to get attention yourself...
