My sister attends Harvard.

Please help.

It seems you have a strong interest in science.
Stick with it, and focus on that in your essay (and perhaps interview).

Your academics are pretty much solid, but you should retake your SAT I if you're shooting for Harvard.

good luck

I personally think your SATs are fine...
if you really stress your interest in the sciences, I think you have as good a shot as anyone else here. :)

i think u 've a chance to get what u need. i applied this year with sat 1330,780m &550v.sat2mathlevel2680phyiscs680writing590. and i was wait listed. just go 4 it.

being waitlisted (no offense) is virtually like being rejected. The chances of those who are located above #10 on the waiting list practically have no chance of getting in, since the Harvard yeild is almost 100%.

i think what he is trying to say is that people with better stats than him were rejected outright while he was waitlisted which means he was still getting considered and some people from this board did get in from the waitlist this year

I thought the waitlist wasn't supposed to be ranked.

ofcourse it's ranked.... otherwise, how would they choose which of those on the waiting list to accept?

Let's say they have 20 slots open, they choose the top 20...

My admissions counselor said that there is no ranking, but he did choose a time to re-submit my application to the committee for review. They finally gave me deferred admission. But Byerly probably knows better about this process.

I would try to raise my SATs for a better chance.

The SATs could be higher, but they're respectable scores, and people have gotten in with lower. I wouldn't worry about your SATs too much, although obviously if you feel you can get them higher I'd go for it.

how much does a 5 in AP chem/ 5 in AP Stat/ 3 in Lang help my chances?

Not much. Thousands of people who apply to Harvard have those scores (or better).

On the subject of the waitlist, I personally know three people who got in off of it (two this year, one last year.) It's not like being rejected; it just makes things less likely.

although you're sister went to harvard, that doesnt give you a legacy advantage fyi
